Win a copy of Snow Leopard from TUAW {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 28th 2009 3:06PM I started with 10.2, but just barely. 10.3 came out 3 weeks after I bought my Powerbook.

Want to read TUAW on your iPhone? There's an app for that. {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 28th 2009 12:27AM I'm with wainownsyou -- it drives me crazy that TUAW forces me to use the mobile version of the site on my iPhone. I like that it's an option, but give me a way to get back to the "full" site if that's what I want!

Pixar hops on bandwagon, also commits to 3D productions {Engadget HD}

Apr 14th 2008 4:20PM This is a nit-picky point, but of the movies you mentioned, only "Up" and "Toy Story 3" are actually Pixar films. "Bolt", "Rapunzel", and "King of the Elves" are all films by the Walt Disney Animation Studios (formerly Walt Disney Feature Animation). When Disney bought Pixar, they agreed to continue operating the two studios independently (although John Lasseter now oversees both).

Ask Engadget HD: Does Blu-ray show enough love to 720p HDTV owners? {Engadget HD}

Feb 27th 2008 2:18PM I have a 55" 768p plasma, and I'm sitting at the proper viewing distance (11 feet). There is no question that blu-ray is worlds above upscaled DVDs. On the DVDs, I can see tons of compression artifacts, even at that distance (although it depends a little on the DVD, some are better than others). It's getting to where I groan every time I put in a standard DVD and see how bad it looks.

Your results may vary. On a 42" and below, you may not see much difference, but in the 50" range I'd highly recommend blu-ray. Most importantly, 720p vs. 1080p isn't the issue -- the issue is screen size vs. viewing distance. 1080p only matters if you have a giant TV (bigger than 50") or you are sitting too close to the TV.

Don't get distracted by all of this 1080p nonsense -- it is mostly that -- nonsense.

Sony vs Nintendo in the motion sensitive arena {Joystiq}

Oct 28th 2006 5:20PM "Yeah Bill, lets try and have pilots stand up while they fly, I'm sure that would work out pretty well."

In point of fact, the Apollo astronauts flew while standing up -- there were no seats in the Lunar Module.
