HD DVD rebate promotion a success? {Engadget HD}
May 30th 2007 5:21PM I just want the whole format war to end with either one winner or each living together in perfect harmony - or a reasonably priced combo player that will play all formats. I refuse to buy on or the other, and even though I want the "Heroes" set in HD, I won't buy it until the war is over, and I won't buy it on standard DVD because they're not going to get me to double dip. Universal needs to see the light and support both formats since they're the only BD holdout.

Apr 16th 2007 4:57PM Ummm, 30 Rock isn't gone. It was off for a few weeks so Andy Barker could premiere and tank, but NBC rushed the Rock back on a week earlier than scheduled (super-sized, even)...then renewed it for a second season!

Apr 2nd 2007 6:23PM Geez, can anyone say "The Honeymooners"?!? Stop remaking old TV shows! They rarely work. "Bewitched" sucked, "The Beverly Hillbillies" sucked, "Dennis the Menace" and "Leave It to Beaver" sucked, "I Dream of Jeannie" is going to suck, "Get Smart" has the potential to be good (Steve Carrell!), but will probably suck. "Mission: Impossible" pissed fans off by making Jim Phelps the bad guy. Why can't Hollywood get the message? Are they that out of ideas? The only remakes that actually worked were "The Fugitive" and "The Brady Bunch Movie." The rest sucked! What else do we have to look forward to - "Mama's Family," "Night Court," "All in the Family," "Maude," "The Golden Girls"? Stop the madness!

NBC Universal getting in the HD distribution biz {Engadget HD}
Mar 19th 2007 3:51PM Ummm, BSG is in HD on the UniversalHD channel. Saturdays at 9:00. Granted, they're about 6 months behind in the season, but I'd rather wait to watch on UHD than SciFi. Plus the first season is slated for an HD-DVD release soon!

Jan 5th 2007 3:38PM Actually, John Black was a priest at the time and performed Marlena's exorcism and if I remember correctly the demon left her body and possessed him briefly before being cast out. I guess the deranged fan stopped watching before the casting out...but wasn't that like 15 years ago??
Is Day Break already cancelled? {TV Squad}
Nov 9th 2006 1:23PM The new My Network TV (UPN's replacement) is doing exactly this with their series "Desire" and "Fashion House" which are designed to run Monday - Friday for 13 weeks before they begin new limited run series. They are following the telenovela formula. Plus, they've been doing this in England for years, sometimes producing as few as six episodes of a show which could run for one "series" or more, with sometimes a year or more between "series." It's a good concept and it does allow viewers to know that there will be a resolution so they won't be afraid to invest the time only to have the show cancelled after three episodes.
Requiem for the impending death of CRT televisions {Engadget HD}
Oct 23rd 2006 3:17PM I have a 30" Sanyo CRT HD set and my parents have an LCD set (different maker) but when I look at the picture on their set compared to my CRT, I can really see the difference. The LCD picture is flat (i.e. constrast is non-existent), blacks are gray, saturation is minimal. I love the look of the image on my CRT and it actually weighs less than my old 32" 4:3 set! Long live CRT until manufacturers can produce something comparable.
