Aug 14th 2008 12:44PM Joshua, you clearly need to get your facts straight.
Boeing had mastered this technology long ago in '85 by strapping one of these to a B-1 Lancer bomber and testing it in Southern California near Pacific Tech.
I suspect this technology has been covered up by the powerful corn farmers lobby, as their entire stock could be depleted through this weapons testing. The other negative issue would be the drastic increase in prices of butter and its artificial variants, as the weapon's by-product would require massive amounts of these products to be distributed to the population.
Despite this oversight, Joshua, I have faith in your reporting, as I see that your article has been accurately researched as seen in the real-life photo of the weapons test in '85.
Now you must excuse me, as I have a few sweepstakes entries to fill out.

Jul 28th 2008 10:26AM I know everyone is saying this is a "fail" because you can remove the collar, however, many dogs today are "microchiped" for identification reasons. These are simply an RFID chip which vets and other services use to identify dogs. Why not use that to open the door?

Jul 17th 2008 10:18AM I'm listening to your podcast now and I'd like to weigh in on your discussion of you two being "fanboys" and its affect of the coverage on your show. Let me preamble this by stating that I am offering my criticisms and recommendations as a way to make the show better overall.
1) Are you "fanboys"? In my opinion, no, although I can understand the belief. Both of you do provide salient support of your united positions on products and technology. However, what I think you fail to do is investigate thoroughly the reasons behind the technology products that you don't agree with. Both of you have very similar opinions and experiences with things, so your commentary tends to be one-sided, and thus, less informative and interesting to us, the listeners.
2) Do you give short-shrift to technology and products that you don't personally support? I have to say "yes" to this one, and that's why you are perceived as "fanboys". I understand the "me, too" responses you give to each other, but you should try to at least present the opposing points thoroughly. Research not just the PR sheets you get, but also the comments from readers, as there are usually a few responses that will be able to give you enough information to provide a "devil's advocate" perspective.
I really do enjoy listening to you guys, but I want you to have the best HD podcast - period. I don't think you need to be on opposite sides of everything, but consider "Siskel & Ebert". They both agreed and disagreed at times, however they did present good contrarian points as needed, making their show the tops in what they did. You should strive for that, too.
And also, use more terms like "supposably", Ben. That there is podcast gold!

Nov 26th 2007 2:56PM Looks like the war is over, fellas and fellitas... The brain-children behind HD-DVD must be packin' up their bags with their tails between their legs. It's clear: There is no way they can complete against BluRay with releases like "I Know Who Killed Me."
Wait... I read further and see that HD-DVD is steppin' up with "Mr. Bean's Holiday". It's a real throw-down now.
Seriously, both formats offer some strong AND weak titles. Each one seems to have its own audience niches, but at this point, I don't drastically lean to either one. Example - Take a look and the "free 5 discs" offer from BluRay and HD-DVD. They should name the offer "Please, for the love of all that is holy, take these things away from us, because their festering stench is overpowering." Maybe this is a little too wordy...

Oct 24th 2007 1:50PM Did anyone hear Ben use the phrase "its a 'cat-and-mouth' game." Cat and mouth? Ahh, classic Ben! I also loved his use of "supposably". I have to admit, I get a kick out of these almost as much as the HD info!
Ben, just picking on ya. This comes from a guy who, while growing up, thought that the Kiss song went "I want to rock and roll all night, and PROBABLY every day." Never over-commit; that's what I say.

Sep 2nd 2007 1:45AM Ben - are you sure that 5Mbps is the fastest bit rate? Apple may even claim it is so, but they do have a recent history of adding functionality to previously sold components that had the hardware quietly built in, such as the wireless N spec. I'm hoping that all of these issues can be handled with software updates, as that is one of the competitive advantages of the Apple product line
