Universal Electronics intros the new Nevo C2 and C3 remotes {Engadget HD}

Sep 13th 2009 8:26PM same exact web interface as the AR ,
horrible remote.

i used to sell a lot of higher end nevo products . .
but after this i really lost faith in them.

you cant use two RF Bases in the same area,
(in other words you cant use two RF setups in the same house)
because they interfere with eachother . . they are not addressable,
and any command send will goto any RF bases in the area.

meaning both remotes would control both RF bases,
unintentionally . .

this is one remote per house and thats it.

f'n lame.

Confession: I hate my Apple TV {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 5th 2009 10:55PM some people have poor experiences with the apple tv, its true.

but its a minor % that dislike it.

im in the home theater business, i have sold and installed over 200 apple tv's with my systems over the years. we usually get rid of the apple tv remote right away and use a solid universal remote (NOT A HARMONY REMOTE).

we also make sure the user had a dedicated mac that is always on. never a laptop. usually an imac with 2tb or more connected to it. usually with a collection of over 600 movies, tons of music, etc.

as long as the client has a solid internet connection (most important factor is the internet speeed of the home) then downloading movies should not take more then a minute or two before you can watch them without delay.

we also usually try to hardwire the apple tv to the network, and make sure the imac (or mac mini) is hardwired as well.

the only clients that have issues are the ones without a dedicated computer (pc or mac desktop), poor internet connections, and crappy networks.

my wealthy clients purchase and rent all day long and swear by them.

WWDC Live: AJ From Marketcircle {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 13th 2009 10:25AM 1. im in for beta of billings as well . .
ive beta tested many apps before and am great with real world usage feedback

2. what i was most curious about so far in regards to the billings touch app
is if it would be more then a glorified timer that sync'd with your desktop...
watching AJ now on tuaw talkcast and learned a lot . .

the app will be either a standalone app,
able to use it for invoices and not sync with desktop billings at all.
that means that it will have a pretty decent feature set to start with.

it will also do a two way sync with your billings app over wifi
(i would love to see a billings server with multiple billings clients
just like daylite, so my partners and i can see current quotes and invoices)

you will be able to enter in line items, and expenses right on touch.
you will also be able to track your time . .

you can send invoices right from touch, but not as pdf, only as html.
this right here has me nervous, my main concern is that it looks identical
to my custom template on my mac, otherwise its useless to send out invoices
for me as my companies branding is important to me....

its also important that blackberry users can open the invoices
on the go . . and im not sure how blackberrys handle html emails..

either way im very excited to see billings touch.

we would love to see some teasers,
maybe sketch ups, or screen shots,
or a demo video.

thanks again for your hard work MC / AJ,
we look forward to more great apps.
