iPod nano 4G leaked in actual, factual, really-real spy photo {Engadget}
Sep 6th 2008 12:23AM If this really is the new design I think it would come with another revision of the user interface. With a vertical screen ratio like that the whole album art on the right side wouldn't work very well so it would either need to move down to the bottom or be eliminated altogether.
Reconfigurable Performance Display to show off engine stats in select GM cars {Engadget}
Aug 27th 2008 10:29AM And the first car it's an option on is the Cobalt, a 148HP economy car.

Aug 27th 2008 12:10AM Displaying a black and white image on an external color display? That's such an odd choice, I double checked the specs see if it was really a B&W screen on a higher end phone like that but it turns out it is a color secondary display and they just chose to show a black and white version of a color logo on it.
How odd.

Aug 16th 2008 2:11PM So what exactly is Palm's hand in this? Branding? Marketing?
HTC designed the hardware, supplied major parts of the software and Microsoft provided the OS?
If I were HTC right now I'd be looking to pick up Palm at a bargain basement price while the brand still has some value left in it.
Sprint AIRAVE review {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 13th 2008 11:32AM CDMA base stations require GPS time to sync their transmission timing, if you ever look closely at a tower you'll see a tiny little antenna different from the rest, that's the GPS antenna.
As for it being locked outside of the US using GPS, I don't know that is a given since the GPS is really needed for it to function as a CDMA base station but if they have locked it out it could simply be to avoid running afoul laws outside of the US that might take issue with Sprint running a cellular base station in their jurisdiction without permission.
Amazon rumored to have sold 240,000 Kindles {Engadget}
Aug 1st 2008 9:21PM One of my company's litigators gave my father (our CEO) a Kindle for his birthday yesterday.
I played with it today, I was unimpressed and am beginning to think we are paying his firm way too much.
Lexus cancels next-gen SC, Toyota cancels next Avalon {Autoblog}
Jul 12th 2008 9:21PM I'm a guy and own an SC430. I love it, it's not a sports car but it's a nice convertible for general cruising around town. It's not incredibly fast but it has more than enough pick up for the casual driver. People get hung up on the two rear seats, yes, the suck, but they are nice to have to store stuff. Don't think of it as a 4 seat car with two awful seats, think of it as a 2 seater with plenty of storage in back.
Dallas is absolutely crawling with them, there are about 6 of them in my condo building. The reason sales have dropped of in my opinion is the lack of any sort up updates. I've had mine for 4 years now and without any sort of mechanical problems and it still under (extended) warranty that has been absolutely no compelling reason to upgrade. It's really been a great car for me.
AT&T announces iPhone 3G pricing plans {Engadget}
Jul 1st 2008 10:05AM If AT&T goes with past history you'll be paying no-commitment pricing to replace a lost or stolen iPhone. $500 burned bad enough replacing my first stolen iPhone, $700 would really smart.
At this point I really don't know that 3G and GPS is really a compelling enough reason for me to upgrade from my 16 gig iPhone, I'm thinking that I'll be waiting for the rumored red one and/or a 32 gig model.
MetroPCS MetroFlash welcomes Verizon, Sprint customers -- and their devices {Engadget}
Jun 29th 2008 7:41PM They are a discount flat rate carrier, I think they charge like $35 a month for unlimited service but they charge you for everything on top of that, including voicemail.
They are building their own network so I've heard they have pretty spotty coverage while they finish building it out but it's good to see openness regardless.
