HD DVD looks back on 2007 {Engadget HD}

Thanks for the concern AMFS :P
HD DVD looks back on 2007 {Engadget HD}
Jan 7th 2008 11:48AM I work in the HD authoring business and the HD-DVD format is not behind Blu-Ray technically. The opposite is true actually. I can give a list of reasons why HD-DVD is the better format but geeks don't make these decisions. The better format is losing. It has nothing to do with technology and everything to do with PR and deal making.

I'm not saying WiFi is harmful, but I find it funny that everyone reacts so definitely that it is safe, when we continually develop technologies, embrace them and then later shun them as damaging or undesirable for some reason or another.

Star Trek: The Original Series Season 1 HD DVD review roundup {Engadget HD}
Nov 19th 2007 3:07PM If you are a Star Trek fan this is a no brainer purchase. The remastering is amazing and tastefully done. They seem to have gone through an effort to update fx and music, while maintaining the look and feel of the original.

Nov 6th 2007 5:14PM Hey did you guys hear about this thing called an HD-DVD player. It has an Internet connection and titles that use it. FYI.
JupiterResearch calls format war futile {Engadget HD}
Nov 4th 2007 7:56PM Well you can pretty much ignore JupiterResearch's credibility based on this statement, "the report concludes that upscaling DVD players are the real competition faced by HDM."
Because for instance the Toshiba HD-DVD players ARE excellent upscaling players. And at $99, you're now getting a cheaper upscaling player.
Ridiculous for JupiterResearch to claim any knowledge on the subject and miss that point.
Sony's BDP-S300 Blu-ray player gets reviewed {Engadget HD}
Jun 20th 2007 11:31AM "Apparently, the Java system a bit poky on the BDP-S300, the remote is lackluster and the unit is missing an Ethernet port but the superb picture is the redeeming quality - plus, it's only $499."
Ha! Are you kidding?
So let's see, for "only" $499 I get a player that has no hope of accessing the Internet? The format is about more than picture quality. This is like watching Bush vs Gore - the smart format is losing to the short sited one. It's maddening.
