CE-Oh no he didn't! Part LVII: Howard Stringer says the Wii is not 'a competitor' {Engadget}

Jul 15th 2008 10:05AM Actually I agree with him but not for the reasons he stated. Blu-ray and full Internet aren't what make them not compete. Its the games stupid. The type of games and even the type of gamers that use the two systems are for the most part completely different. Nintendo is family/casual friendly and the PS3 is a more "serious" system. If you want fun, casual games and don't care about HD graphics the Wii is great. If you want more hardcore games with great graphics the PS3 is great (as is the 360 - Sony's actual competition). So I really don't see somebody deciding to get only one of those two systems, therefore they aren't competing. Only real competition is when the same game is on both systems which is pretty rare.

And for the record I have a PS3 and 360. And personally I think the Wii is overpriced for what it is but clearly over 22 million people worldwide disagree with me.

Apr 7th 2008 2:18PM Not sure where you're getting your info from Will but you are wrong. There is no 15MB size limit for DLC on Live. If that were the case all of the Rock Band DLC I've purchased is my imagination b/c it over 15MB each. Not to mention the COD 4 map pack that was almost 450MB.

Samsung announces two gamer plasmas for Korea {Engadget}

Feb 28th 2008 9:24AM New plasmas are much safer then old ones. I've gamed on my Panasonic plasma for almost 2 years now and no permanent burn in. But for the first 100 hours or so of use do NOT play games with static HUDs/graphics on it (or any other material with static images for that matter). After the first 100 hours the chances of burn in are much less. Also make sure you reduce the brightness on the input you'll put your game system on. Most plasmas (not sure about Pioneer's) default an input to "torch" mode, ie supper bright.
