Steve Jobs back to work at Apple {Engadget}
Jun 30th 2009 1:25AM Well Apple DOES use Windows Mobile devices quite extensively in their own enterprise, specifically the Apple Store. I wonder if they use them elsewhere?
Apple being totalitarian on only them being allowed to manufacture anything running the OSXMobile platform is pretty limited.
How many tens of millions of Windows Mobile devices (not necessarily phones) are sold each year because specialty companies take them and make them ruggedized and suitable for work in mining, underwater, etc etc locations.
Big opporitunity.
White iPhone 3GS reportedly overheats, turns a browner shade of white {Engadget}
Jun 26th 2009 5:13PM My 16gb white still looks as fresh as the fallen snow. I keep mine in an incase hard case too, it doesn't get very white.
iPhone 3GS exploit confirmed, jailbreak and unlock coming 'soon' {Engadget}
Jun 26th 2009 3:04AM Alright, now I get to make my 3GS useful again! The 4 days I've gone without Intelliscreen and some other tweaks made me realize how poorly designed the iPhone is.
A completely useless lock screen that requires me to unlock and load up an application just to see if that email I got was spam or not?
A tiny little quarter of a second vibrate with no reminder that I got an email or have a calendar reminder with nothing on the again useless lock screen?
It makes me wonder if any of the designers ever used a smartphone on a regular basis before. At least some there are some people who know how to put functionality where it belongs.
Video: 23 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295s packed into one system, "overkill" exemplified {Engadget}
Apr 7th 2009 10:35AM I don't know that I'd call that "one system" considering its 5 of them right now. Its a lot of nvidia cards in one rack thats for sure. Why no quadroplex?

Apr 1st 2009 3:37AM We could use the global warming considering we are in a big global cooling cycle and likely headed towards a mini-iceage as seen in the 1600s!
IBM's Sequoia: 20x faster than the world's fastest supercomputer {Engadget}
Feb 3rd 2009 12:48PM Yes, but a measly 2x the performance off technology that isn't even out yet 3 years in the future does not make me very excited. This is just typical IBM fluff.
IBM's Sequoia: 20x faster than the world's fastest supercomputer {Engadget}
Feb 3rd 2009 3:18AM Really? 3 years away and its a big deal? Thats a looooong time in computer years, remember, in late 2005 was when Dual Core processors were a big deal, in a month or so we'll have 8 core.
XT Jaguar, a previous near record holder, had 180k opteron cores total. This has nearly 10 times that amount, so this is mostly an effect of scale.
That means only roughly double the horsepower per core of an actually built supercomputer that will be over 3 years its elder by the time this comes out? Color me dissapointed, I'd expect better for 2012.
This kind of pflop power could be accomplished with todays technology, just not very cost effectively.
Oh IBM, you sure do love to press release things that have just barely left the conceptual stage and wont be seen for a long time.

Steve Jobs is taking a leave of absence from Apple due to health reasons {Engadget}
Jan 14th 2009 5:16PM You know for damn sure if this was announced about Balmer all the Applers would be saying GOOD RIDDANCE HES AN EVIL EVIL MAN, when Apple currently has considerably more ethically questionable business practices than Microsoft has in a long long time.
I also think its quite silly that Apple/Jobs have not announced his successor when he retires/whatever so people can get used to the idea for a few years.
