Flash 10.1 announced for just about anything with a screen, webOS and WinMo betas this year (update: Pre video!) {Engadget}
Oct 5th 2009 1:49AM GPU acceleration? Okay, but have they bothered with the full-on rewrite that Flash (and Photoshop, for that matter) desperately needs? That's pretty much the only way they're going to get Flash working on smartphones. In its current incarnation, Flash is one of the biggest resource hogs available.
All in all, underwhelmed.
Google announces Chrome OS, coming to netbooks second half of 2010 {Engadget}
Jul 8th 2009 2:01AM I don't know if this is even necessary. Shouldn't Google, if they want a better OS, just contribute to a Linux distribution somewhere?
Oh wait, then they wouldn't be able to track our Internet use. Silly me.
REPORT: Cheney says Bush left GM bankruptcy for the next guy {Autoblog}
Jun 9th 2009 9:08AM Sorry, Autoblog, but that's not what Cheney said. Or at least, he didn't mean what you're claiming he meant. Cheney is saying that Obama's inauguration was so close that it made no sense to saddle him with a situation that he may or may not have supported, therefore Bush gave out some money to keep the status quo until Obama's inauguration, when he could decide what to do.
While I think Obama is the first Marxist president and therefore the worst possible person to determine what happens to Detroit, this is an entirely appropriate decision on the part of the Bush administration.
Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner gets more safety gear for 2010 {Autoblog}
Mar 6th 2009 7:12PM For those of us with '09 Mariners (yes, I bought one, and I love it) can we get the new Sync features through a software update at the dealer service department, or are we SOL?
Wayne Huizenga Says Parcells Is 'Going to Stay' Even if He Sells the Dolphins {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Jan 6th 2009 5:01AM "after all, despite the great job that Tony Sparano has done, Parcells is the one who very, very quickly took the Fins from 1-15 all the way to the playoffs."
False. Media perception does not equal reality. The fact is that Parcells has had very little to do with this team's success. He hired Ireland, he hired Sparano, then he sat back and let them do their jobs. He was involved only when brought into a situation by someone else: for example, when Vinny Cerrato decided to talk to the Fins about Jason Taylor, he called Bill Parcells, not Jeff Ireland. Parcells, rather than pretending to be the GM, called Ireland and told him about Cerrato's offer. Ireland made the decision, not Parcells.
The Fins turned around because Sparano's hard work changed the culture, because Jeff Ireland did an amazing job with the draft and continually churning the bottom of the roster all throughout the season, because Chad Pennington fell from the sky, and because Pennington and Joey Porter had career years.
Compare post-week 17 footage of the Vikings' locker room with the Dolphins' locker room and you'll see why the Fins turned it around.
Video: Windows 7 promises faster boots and up to 15% better battery life {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2008 5:39AM Not impressed by the boot video. They count time from power on to desktop display; the rest of us in the real world count time from power on to "the OS starts responding to my clicks with something resembling speed."
'72 Dolphins, Desperately Trying to Remain Relevant, Are Not Impressed With '08 Titans {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Oct 29th 2008 7:40PM More accurate headline: "1972 Dolphins answer phone calls from media, get insulted."
Why Are People Still Defending Brett Favre? {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Oct 27th 2008 8:12PM Why are people still defending Brett Favre? Look in a mirror. The media has built him up for 15 years.
Windows 7 to feature GPU acceleration like Apple's Snow Leopard? {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2008 7:07AM Leopard already utilizes the GPU for desktop rendering. No need to wait for Snow Leopard.
MacBook and MacBook Pro review {Engadget}
Oct 21st 2008 7:38PM I'm tired of the complaining about the glossy screen. Guys: buy a matte screen filter. Costs ten bucks. Sticks right on. Added bonus: many also double as privacy filters, so the next time you go to the coffee shop, the strange guy with the six day old beard sitting off to your side won't be able to watch you browse porn. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Engadget, seriously, how can you say the glossy screen is nearly a deal breaker, then immediately afterward display a picture that shows the new screen's superiority in terms of clarity and color over the old MacBook Pro? Come on, guys. Make up your mind.
