Secrets of the Atom cracked, Wind PC revealed {Engadget}

May 21st 2008 6:14AM This is a totally skewed test, NONE of the 4 machines had the same OS or ram. We all know that vista is a ram hog and vista needs 2 GB ram to run averagely. The atom is tested with 1 GB of ram.

I'm not pro or against Atom, this test is worthless unless its in a controlled environment.

In-store demo compares Monster HDMI interconnect to composite cable {Engadget HD}

Apr 22nd 2008 4:38AM you can't even believe this article if you're on one side or the other. Fry's has one of the worst setup of most electronics stores. It definitely depends store to store. But when a store daisy chains and uses a black box to supposable amplify the signal, how much can you really trust?

Only direct source to destination using different cables is a valid test. Fry's definitely won't do that. I'm not saying Monster cables is superior or a rip off, this test is just bogus and doesn't even belong on an engadget blog. I've seen CircuitCity setup that is better than BestBuy, should I say the cables one use is better than the other? NO, not enough info on the complete setup!

Apr 22nd 2008 4:29AM I'm on comcast HD in denver and I don't get SciFi or any non big premium channels in HD. Just the basic HD package. Verizon is on par with Comcast here.

Dallas considers shutting off red light cams, since they're working too well and harming revenue {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2008 10:23PM Is it only me or did people miss the $3,799 tag per camera and thought the title can be misleading.

According to the main article it cost Dallas about $4.1 million a year for installation and $2.8 for operation cost totaling $6.9 million a year. They made $6.2 million on tickets. Its expected, as any system for operation cost to go up and theres a trend for revenues to go down.

Not trying to lean either way, just pointing out the facts and I'll let you guys make the decision since the Engadget post doesn't mention that the city is loosing money on the system.

TiVo still working on a DVR with two-way features like VOD {Engadget HD}

Mar 6th 2008 2:27PM I hope they focus a little more on VOD over the internet. With comcast the prices are high for VOD and in the future the HD selection may not be as good as what Apple or Amazon might bring to the table.

Sales of OTA antennas continue to surge, no one surprised {Engadget HD}

Mar 4th 2008 4:33PM I agree, I've tested local HD channels on comcast and OTA. OTA was much better and its free.

Well, I had to pay $15 for mounting brackets to re-secure the 15 year antenna.

Amazon pondering high def Unbox rentals? {Engadget HD}

Mar 4th 2008 4:29PM if they can roll this out with a ton of titles on the ps3 and tivo platforms they are going to bank. I'm onboard if they do, it all depends on the number of HD titles
