Parallels Desktop 5 ships with a host of new and improved features {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 4th 2009 1:31PM Well, Parallels 5 runs a lot faster than Fusion 3 on my Mac, and Coherence seems to work a lot better than Unity does (no weird artifacts, etc...) Aero also runs plenty fast - I think in this round, Parallels will get my money.
VMware Fusion 3 supercharged for Snow Leopard {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 6th 2009 11:55AM I want to like Fusion as it cheaper than Parallels and made here in the good old USA, but the latest Parallels beta is way, way, way faster than Fusion on my Mac (I get a 4.4 experience rating on Windows 7!), and their coherence mode works a lot better than Unity. I am going to wait until Paralells has their latest release out and then upgrade to one or the other... but I think Parallels will win.
EyeTV app for iPhone released {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 30th 2009 12:02PM I have an Airport Extreme, and was able to watch Live TV from my home earlier this morning (I only tried it as a test). I didn't have to open any ports at home and have my station setup to NAT to the internet. I suspect I have NAT-PMP enabled, but can't verify it right now as I am not home. Since I didn't have to open any ports, it pretty much has to be NAT-PMP opening them up.
Fairly painless for me - the only setup I did was sign up for the EyeTV connection service so that they keep track of my home public IP. I am actually impressed with how easy it was.
iPhone OS 3.1 now enforces Exchange encryption policy, may block pre-3GS iPhones {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 10th 2009 12:51PM I have a 3G phone and my Exchange 2007 connection still works in 3.1... I always used the SSL option in my account. Seems to me that upgrading to the 3GS is not the only option...

Win a copy of Snow Leopard from TUAW {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 28th 2009 5:19PM My first one was the 10.0 beta... boy was that thing slow! This is probably the first OS that has gotten faster in every release.
How-To: Install Windows 7 and live to tell about it {Engadget}
Aug 11th 2009 2:30PM I don't see anybody complaining about having to reinstall all the applications - isn't that the biggest hassle about the Clean Install? Having to find all the installers for all the apps I use and having to deal with Microsoft Activation if my license is not taken by the installer? A backup is all well and good, but in the past all that does is get me my data back - I still had to reinstall everything.
Apple allows matte screens on 15-inch MacBook Pros again {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 11th 2009 10:31AM IMHO, the glossy screen makes colors pop more and makes the dark portions of the picture closer to black. And I love the black border - I want the "frame" for my picture to make the picture stand out, not contrast with it as the silver border did. To each it's own, I guess.
First pic of Microsoft retail store's construction -- both Abercrombie & Fitch visibly nervous {Engadget}
Aug 7th 2009 8:54PM Finally I can go somewhere and look at a PC with Windows on it!
