The problem with your logic is cable companies _cannot_ switch to H.264 as easily as sat providers because cable companies are bound by the logistics of maintaining the backwards compatible "for granted" MPEG2 infrastructure.

Sep 22nd 2009 2:34PM Honestly I'd rather see devices using H.264 to encode 1080i60 so we don't have to deal with terrible compression artifacts and macroblocking. The push to have the most HD channels has meant my quality-per-channel on Cox cable is getting pretty intolerable, and I don't care if the source feed is interlaced or progressive, 30 or 60 fps... I want less visible compression!

Sep 3rd 2009 10:11AM Price?? Release date?! I have a 58V10 hanging on my wall and I ordered it on Aug 21st. It was right at $2500 shipped and looks fantastic. I'd expect EHD to know these things are out (and MSRP is on Panasonic's site if you look, though retailers are undercutting it quite a bit)
