Boston prep school nixes all the books in its library, replaces them with 18 e-readers {Engadget}

Sep 6th 2009 8:10AM Cushing Academy Is a very high end school were the kids that go there money is not an issue. Kids from famous parents go there at times under false names to protect their identities.

E-books and such are the future for all schools just based on the fact that the cost of a book for a school would be much cheaper in digital form then made from paper and could easily be updated with corrections. The younger kids are always carrying way to much weight then they should be in their backpacks so a simple e-book type of device would eliminate that. By schools having the parents pay for their kids e-reader or notebook then schools would be able to cut a huge expense off their budgets.

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best home theater subwoofer under $500? {Engadget HD}

Dec 3rd 2008 4:10PM There are a couple of SVS sub-woofers in your price range but I would suggest adding to the pot a little and getting a PB12 http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-isd2.cfm#driver If you plan on only buying one sub woofer for a long time then you might as well make it a very good one that also has the ability to change along your changing needs. The sound is great and it makes a perfect end table so no ugly box to worry about hiding from the wife because she doesn't want to see it in your living room.

Will Sony's PlayStation 4 have Blu-ray? Someone thinks not. {Engadget HD}

Sep 17th 2008 7:33AM EA has said something along those lines that they didn't see their games coming out on disc in the future, that their games will be delivered by them being able to be downloaded.

I think all games will go this way in the future, it only seems reasonable since it would mean a huge cost savings to the game makers and limit the amount of trash that gets thrown away in the land fills. Plus us as consumers will never have to deal with a scratched unplayable disc ever again.

Down side is the cap put on by the Internet service providers is going to have to be removed and the quality of the HD streaming movies will have to be greatly improved to the Blu-ray standard.

Details of Netflix's Blu-ray premium emerges: $1.00 per month {Engadget HD}

Aug 1st 2008 2:25PM Burndive, the selection and the wait times are not any better at Blockbuster, in fact they seem to have even less blu-ray titles online and the pickings are slim at out local store.

Details of Netflix's Blu-ray premium emerges: $1.00 per month {Engadget HD}

Aug 1st 2008 12:55PM I don't mind the extra $1 or $2, I just wish there wasn't so many Blu-Ray movies with a long waiting time for them. I've had movies in my queue for over a month now!

High-def news comes to Boston's WHDH-TV {Engadget HD}

Jul 31st 2008 7:13AM The channel looks great, some of the host's on the other hand. Is there a screening process for how a person must look before getting on TV? Hopefully Fox 25 will make the switch sometime soon.

NBC aims to broadcast stereo / 5.1 mixes simultaneously during Olympics {Engadget HD}

Apr 12th 2008 9:23AM Why don't they drop the 5.1 audio and use that bandwidth to improve
the picture quality? No matter how good it may sound I'm still not
going to be sitting down to watch a lousy picture. So it looks like I
wont be watching this Olympic coverage either. :(
