Netflix for PlayStation 3 requires a disc, software solution coming late 2010 {Engadget HD}

Oct 26th 2009 10:34PM Some people really need to read the fine print the first time. But anyways, the disc is a Blu-ray "movie" and will leverage BD-Live. My guess is that Netflix has been working on a BD-Live player for some time, and a great way of turning BD2.0 players into Netflix streamers. A deal between Sony and Netflix must be fairly recent, and developers are busy writing a native app. While not the greatest situation, it's better than none.

Netflix is coming to the PS3 [update] {Joystiq}

Oct 26th 2009 3:00AM My guess is that Netflix has been developing this BD-Live solution for a while, as it should work for all BD-Live compatible Blu-ray players as well (a great idea too btw). I wouldn't be surprised if they came to Sony with this and Sony realized they couldn't do anything to stop it and decided to jump on the bandwagon. This means developers are busily working on a native application for the XMB, and until then Netflix will be shipping customers a disc to customers requesting it.

Oct 26th 2009 2:56AM This must have been in the works for a while. Since you are going to need a blu-ray disc from Netflix that use BD-Live to stream the movie. But it hopefully a firmware update will soon be available, and we won't be stuck with that horrible 360 interface.

VIDEO: Mythbusters test golf ball-like dimpling effect on fuel economy (*Spoiler Alert!*) {Autoblog}

Oct 22nd 2009 3:39PM A dirty car will lower your fuel economy. Dirt doesn't make the car suddenly have golf ball dimples. A dimpled car will increase your fuel economy.

Sep 29th 2009 1:25PM Nice video of what actual game play doesn't look like. It makes me wonder about those GT5 videos and how much of that is actual game play and how much is prerendered.

ALMS announces 2010 schedule; Laguna Seca moves to May, becomes 6-hour enduro {Autoblog}

Sep 27th 2009 5:58PM Not really good for that Laguna Seca. A lot of the European teams who come over for Petit, decide to stay and run Laguna Seca too. The other thing is the date might be an issue for both European and American teams who are planning on going to Le Mans.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG looks good in Gran Turismo 5, too [w/VIDEO] {Autoblog}

Sep 25th 2009 2:53PM Until GT5 is actually out and available, no one will be able to properly compare it and FM3. To have a valid graphical comparison, you have to compare the games mode to mode. Live play. Replay. Photo-mode.

My guess is GT5 will beat FM3 in all three categories, especially photo-mode and replay. From the FM3 demo, it still looks a bit plasticy. But how nice a game looks, isn't as important as how the cars drive, and the rest of the online and offline components.

Gran Turismo 5 will launch March 2010... in Japan {Autoblog}

Sep 25th 2009 12:48PM It's hard to compare GT5 and FM3 until both are out. It's very hard to judge the GT5 screenshots, because they often turn on extra bells and whistles. Sony released HD quality "screenshots" of cars from GT PSP (e.g. http://www.gtplanet.net/new-corvette-zr1-model-screenshots-from-gt-psp/ ) -- not exactly representative of what you'd actually see.

VIDEO: Movie cars are strange - VW Bug-powered R34 Skyline from F&F {Autoblog}

Sep 21st 2009 4:20PM Makes sense. Since they need a mid-engine or rear-engine car to make sure the engine doesn't get damage during the stunt.

Most of the cars in the last movie were probably GT-T's with body-kits on them.
