Vista CableCARD Media Center PCs - what do you want to know? {Engadget}
Jun 1st 2007 3:12PM Two questions:
-Anyone have details/expereince with power consumption during recording? Does the whole system need to be up and running to record, or is there some state between sleep and full power that a vista cablecard system can be in to record shows, particularly HD shows? In short, does this thing have to be running at full power all the time to replace my crappy cableco DVR?
-Anyone know of a list of current or soon to be makers for cablecard vista media centers? The list I know of so far is definetly: Dell, S1Digital, Niveus, Sony, Vidabox and Velocity
Probably: Alienware, Life|ware
ATI stops shipping CableCARD tuners due to bugs, will resume soon {Engadget HD}
Apr 6th 2007 4:42PM I dont think they ever released a price point. I think ATI is still a ways off from selling this as an accessory. Everything I have read suggests that CableLabs will require the ATI unit to be sold only with new PCs, or systems that meet their certification.
I guess the price point is the cost of a new vista system bundled with one or more of these puppies.

Sep 20th 2006 12:24AM gas-turbine is a type of technology (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_turbine), it doesn't mean the turbine must be turned by combustion of gasoline(petrol) it could be designed to be powered by any number of fuels. its definetly not a step backward, its a step foward albeit with limited applications.
