Apple patent application reveals ad-supported OS, desktop Armageddon {Engadget}

Oct 22nd 2009 6:57AM With them going back and fourth with Google recently and Google bringing Android out as an OS, this could be a power play by Apple just to get in the way of possible competition.

Vonage Mobile iPhone and BlackBerry apps available for download {Engadget}

Oct 18th 2009 9:02PM So, I've been looking at some of the options out there and decided to give Ooma a try. I wish I'd questioned Vonage before.... thanks for the discussion guys.

TDK's heavily stacked 320GB disc shows its nearly-clear face at CEATEC {Engadget HD}

Oct 8th 2009 6:36AM I hope they plan on a new drive technology to go with these things. It would be nice to be able to replace the tape backups with these. We'd reclaim tons of physical space once those LTO2's expire.

Belkin's refreshed Easy Transfer Cable makes Windows 7 migration a little too easy {Engadget}

Oct 8th 2009 6:24AM Talk about a ripoff. Even if someone isn't computer savy, who doesn't know at least one person that can handle the Easy Transfer process?
Unless you plan on sharing this with a few people (I still call it a ripoff) that $40 could be better spent on a Windows for Dummies book...
Let's see how many people get the upgrade and slap this thing in two USB ports on the same machine to transfer data...

Oct 5th 2009 8:29AM ...shhhhh, you can't say that here. Anything Apple does, even if it is long after others, is "innovation".
Normally, they throw a lower case "i" in front of it to make it cool and innovative at the same time! Not only do you get MMS, a technology that has been in use since 2002, you now get iMMS... only on iPhone. You get nothing new, just an extra "i" and an Apple GUI

Vonage Mobile iPhone and BlackBerry apps available for download {Engadget}

Oct 5th 2009 8:21AM Adam, that's a good plan if I were the only one using the phone, but, I'm not and we have more than enough minutes used on outgoing calls alone to end up spending close to $15 / $20. That's if we don't count the occasional international calls. Situationally, it is certainly better than what we're doing right now, but those times that the lines are really busy are where the difference would balance out.

I tried a similar setup to what you mention when GoogleVoice was still GrandCentral and we had issues with calls not being routed properly from time to time. Maybe it's time that we try it again and see if a switch if feasible. Honestly, if it were just me I'd have nothing but a mobile phone. Our security system is wireless now so there is no more requirement for the land line except call quality (coverage in some parts of the house sucks)

Oct 5th 2009 7:57AM ok, so obviously I'm lost right now. When I look at the page that I thought was supposed to go to the marketplace, I get "access is denied". Where are you guys downloading it from?

Oct 5th 2009 7:55AM They were supposed to do that so you could use your MS points on XBL, Zune, and here.
