Dec 5th 2007 4:38PM I have two homes. One has Comcast the other Charter. Comcast is far and away the better company.

Mar 19th 2007 2:34PM "but with so many methods available," I guess I am wondering can it be copied AND moved to the other format. It would be a great hedge against obsolance if I could copy brand X, remove its protection, and save it to brand Y.
Dell XPS 410 with CableCARD and Blu-ray (p)reviewed {Engadget HD}
Mar 16th 2007 3:55PM Phatman:
I would not say it was stupid. CC is not a bad idea, the problem is the installers are stupid. This Saturday will be the third time I have had comcast out to setup my CC. Who ever buy or designs these these must have starter installers than are around here.
Charter cable customers in St. Louis could lose KMOV HD signal {Engadget HD}
Jan 3rd 2007 2:05PM "...Although Charter hasn't had any issues receiving permission from other locals to broadcast their HD signals, KMOV is playing hardball,... "
This is not true! We also don't get ABC in HD. I live in the fringe where you can only get HD via cable, off air signal is not powerfull enough to reach me. When I emailed them and asked why no ABC, I got a form letere that said some thing to the effect of "thanks for the input, we are adding channels all the time, keep holding your breath"
Their internet service is also slow, prone to drop outs and over priced. The juste raised the price of most services this week from 2 to 5 dollars, depending on the package.

Dec 7th 2006 5:18PM What a hair-brained idea! They have forgotten that I skipped the ads for a reason, I didn't want to see them. Moving a tampon or male enhancement ad from during the show to the end dosen't make me want to watch it any more. If I did want to see it I would have watched it during the show.

Dec 1st 2006 4:52PM I really don't care about the total hours, what is really needed is a fuel gauge saying how much space (bits not time) is left. Then leave it to the user to decide upon their own experience how many shows "90% full" can fit in the remaining space.

LG announces 55-inch plasma with "time machine" {Engadget HD}
Oct 24th 2006 8:59PM I hope they changed vendors for the internal HD. I had an LG 50' plasma with a built in DVR that didn't last 6 months.
The fight over CableCards continues {PVR Wire}
Oct 16th 2006 1:21PM While I did have some problems getting my 2 S3's to use the cable card, the problem was solved quickly. One thing I did notice, when ever a tech came to install the card the comment was made, "Why are you going to all the trouble of the cable card? Why not use our cable box?" My responce was always the same, "Because your TV guide sucks!"
I think that this move by the cable companies is an attempt at catch-up and sour grapes because the FCC forced them into the CC and they don't make as much money when you use a better designed and implemented resale device.
