Signal: turn your iPhone into an iTunes remote {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 26th 2007 4:04AM I can't believe that the iPhone doesn't do this by default. Sometimes Apple's 'complete system' approach does leave a bit to be desired.
I've got an Airport Express, and I would have expected that an iPhone (or iPod touch!) would have some built-in way to send the audio wirelessly to the Express, or to remote control a Mac over wireless to do the job for it.
Shame on Apple for leaving such a gaping hole.
Leopard to exclude 800MHz systems {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 25th 2007 3:52AM Running 10.4.10 on a 466MHz Graphite clamshell iBook here (576MB RAM) and it's much smoother than Panther was. I'm sure there'll be some way to get Leopard working, even if it's not supported.

Aug 25th 2007 9:06AM Hey, Nik - nice to see you've got your dream slot on TUAW at last! ;o)
Looking forward to your articles!
Is an iPhone unlocking app on the way? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 16th 2007 5:54PM Is it just me, or is there going to be a bit of an issue with this locking business in the UK? IIRC, it's an Ofcom requirement that phones not be permanently locked to one network as this prevents users from moving their hardware from one network to another. However, whether this only applies outside of the contract period, I have no idea.
I'm pretty sure that if you are with, say, Orange in the UK and you decided to move to move to Vodafone, Orange are obliged to remotely unlock your handset so that you can make that move without incurring additional cost to yourself - if the handset belongs wholly to you (ie. you don't still owe Orange anything for it).
I'm fully prepared to be shot down, but I'm fairly sure I'm right... :o/
Elgato's Turbo.264 gets date and price {Engadget HD}
Apr 9th 2007 6:28AM Although, seeing as DVD video in PAL format is 720576, it might still be useful...
Elgato's Turbo.264 gets date and price {Engadget HD}
Apr 9th 2007 6:10AM Rats. I really wanted one of these, but the 800x600 resolution limitation makes it pretty much useless for me. Why did they have to do that? I was already saving my pennies!
Microsoft announces "Live Drive" 2GB iDisk-like storage {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 31st 2006 5:34AM All this is really making .Mac look really bad. I've just resubscribed this year for the simple reason that I have nearly a gig of stuff on my iDisk and I can't be bothered to sort it out before expiry, but for a pay service, what you get is rubbish.
For just over £10 I get unlimited storage on Flickr for my photos for a year (2GB upload per month) with unlimited bandwidth. GMail now gives me nearly 3GB just for my emails, and it costs me nowt (although there are text ads). At full price .Mac is nearly £70 a year and gives 1GB split for emails and everything else. Not only that, but access speeds in the UK are appalling - putting the iDisk on your desktop is the equivalent to begging your Mac to hang all the time. Even the WebDAV implementation can be flakey!
Come on Apple, up the game here! With so much good new stuff coming out, .Mac is like the ugly cousin nobody likes to mention.
