One real (low-res) pic of MAG {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 23rd 2008 1:57AM As Rade Stojsavljevic stated in the comments, "The image was cropped to center on the action."

SCEE President dates PlayTV for the UK {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 18th 2008 4:40PM It wouldn't work if you imported it because the US uses ATSC standards whereas Europe uses DVB-T for broadcasting.

If you would like to learn more about "Digital Terrestrial Television" you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_terrestrial_television for more information.

SCEA's Jack Tretton on BC, DRM and Home {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 17th 2008 5:52PM Bring back Kutaragi! Phil Harrison too.

PS3 Poll Police: did you have firmware 2.40 troubles? {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 6th 2008 10:05PM I had a problem with the update. I installed it and after the install had completed I noticed the "Cross Color Reduction Filter" wasn't working properly. I turned the CCRF off then on manually and it seemed okay. I proceeded to play Super Stardust HD and the CCRF turned off again. It does this everytime I enter a game, watch a movie, or restart the system.

I contacted consumer services last week but they just gave me the standard troubleshooting response (reset settings, check network devices?, etc.). I hope it gets patched soon.

Firmware 2.40 removed from update servers {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 2nd 2008 6:43PM I had a problem with the update. I installed it last night and after the install had completed I noticed the "Cross Color Reduction Filter" wasn't working properly. I turned the CCRF off then on manually and it seemed okay. I proceeded to play Super Stardust HD and the CCRF turned off again. It does this everytime I enter a game or restart the system.

I contacted Sony earlier this afternoon to inform them of my problem but I doubt that's why the update is offline. It's probably something pertaining to the network. I just want the CCRF to get patched.

More potential gamer profile pages revealed {PS3 Fanboy}

Jun 25th 2008 3:06PM I assume you're referring to Home avatars? To be fair Sony (or at least Kutaragi) was planning Home long before the release of Mii's (2006) or Second Life (2003).

In the Aprill 2002 Issue of "Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine" (Issue 55) there is an article on page 34 titled "Kutaragi Hints at the Future". A small part in the third column that states:

"[Kutaragi] goes on to mention that with the PS3, people will be able to have their own space in a virtual city. "You can live there," he comments. And when will it start? "We're thinking from about the year 2005.""

PSN offline on June 24th for scheduled maintenance {PS3 Fanboy}

Jun 23rd 2008 6:14PM Agreed. The wishful thinking side of me says this is somehow related to a new feature that will soon be release but the logical thinking side of me says this is just some housekeeping and maybe a minor tweek here or there for stability and accessibility.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of June 8th {PS3 Fanboy}

Jun 8th 2008 1:31PM My eyes are shifted on two things. MGS4 (June 12) and the exclusive gameplay premiere of Resistance 2 on GameTrailers TV (June 13).

This in-game XMB video is touted as 'clearer' {PS3 Fanboy}

Jun 8th 2008 1:20PM Okay, let me set it straight. In-game XMB is not a functionality of the game, it's a functionality of the system software itself. Just like holding the "PS" button and getting the current layout we have now. The trophy system on the other hand would be a functionality of the game since trophies have to be programmed to activate at specific events.

Metal Gear retrospective: MGS 3 {PS3 Fanboy}

Jun 3rd 2008 6:05PM Yes MGS3 should work just fine. You can check the compatibility of various PS1 and PS2 games at
http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus if you'd like.

@patrolpatrol: Apparently all issues with Summoner have been resolved with the 2.20 update.
