Hauppauge HD-PVR shows itself, pre-order said to be coming soon {Engadget}

Apr 16th 2008 3:08PM All I know is I want to be able to archieve/record some sports games that are in high def without losing any quality before the dvr runs out of space!!!

You would think that a simple request wouldnt need expensive hardware thats not even out yet in order to record at its present video quality.

I even have a friggin BR burner (although never used) on my PC but alot of good it does if I cant get the HD content from the DVR to the PC.

If BR burners have been out for a half year now, whats so damn hard about putting out a stand alone recording player....

10 reasons why HD DVD or Blu-ray is here to stay {Engadget HD}

Dec 4th 2007 12:24PM No mention to the superior interactive functionality and web enabled features on HD DVD that are missing on Blu-ray

Wal-Mart now selling Toshiba's A2 HD DVD player for $198? {Engadget HD}

Oct 25th 2007 12:49PM Hate to tell ya but you are right Content is King but despite the excellent PR campaign with with false and misleading information the truth and facts is that there are more titles released and available for purchase on HD DVD then Blu-ray.

With exclusive releases like Batman, King Kong, Bourne, Transformers, Shrek, Heroe's plus just about all Blu-ray titles can be purchased for an additional $5 as an HD DVD import.

I already own my copy of Mr & Mrs Smith on HD DVD that was promised by Fox 8 months ago and still not released for Blu-ray.

Daewoo shows off Blu-ray Profile 2 player at IFA {Engadget}

Oct 22nd 2007 8:56AM Considering that Profile 2.0 remains optional for Blu-ray its hardly worth any studio providing any features using this profile when 100% of all currently available players are not compatible with it. Why even bother offering something the majority can not play and will likely cause compatibility issues like we are now seeing with the BD+ titles.

Universal Studios VP sez HD DVD is 'more affordable' than Blu-ray {Engadget HD}

Aug 1st 2007 7:33AM Blu-ray keeps stating it has more studios which falsly is implying that it has more content available to consumers.

The truth and fact of the matter is that both formats have been on the market for over a year now and HD DVD has more content released and available for purchase then Blu-ray!

Totals of Format Titles Released in North America

HD DVD: 291
Blu-ray: 284

Plus HD DVD has many exclusive adult titles and since titles released anywhere in the world can be purchased and played here in North America they should also be included in the count of what is available to North America consumers....

Engadget has some missing titles in there release count of both formats. I have sent an message offering to show the missing items but have not received any response as of yet.

Engaget is great and seems to be fair on reporting things about the format war so I dont think this is on purpose. If anyone from engadgethd reads this, please contact me so that the published statistics might be corrected for your readers.

Pressure mounting on Universal to support Blu-ray? {Engadget HD}

Jul 24th 2007 11:46AM Universal says Blu-ray sucks so stop asking...

Every Blu-ray statistic you could ever crave {Engadget HD}

Jul 16th 2007 7:15AM Considering there are 4 million blu-ray players (including ps3) available worldwide and only 300,000 HD DVD players currently, blu-ray has a 13 to 1 ratio over HD in hardware. With that kind of hardware lead I would consider it a complete failure that they are hardly selling more then HD DVD in software... So why is there such a low attach rate for blu-ray?

New details emerge on Star Trek: TOS HD DVD {Engadget HD}

Jul 16th 2007 7:07AM Owning both a bluray and a HD DVD player I must say that I am much happier with my HD DVD player. It has better quality, offers more features and is less expensive
