Peter Moore explains EA Sports' PC snub {Joystiq}
Jul 4th 2008 12:45PM Take heart, here's to hoping that some smaller company will seize the opportunity to create a new sports franchise as a result of the EA behemoth leaving the arena. They pretty much have a monopoly on sports games, and PC games have good profit margins despite the piracy. So I'm sure someone else will step up eventually, even if we have to wait 5 years for that to happen.
HD goes underground in London's Tube {Engadget HD}
Jul 4th 2008 12:37PM Since classes have finished for uni I haven't had any reason to be on the tube, but this definitely makes me say Go London! We rock! :D By Olympics time, at this rate, we should be a pretty high tech city ;)
I love the TV screens, I think they will prompt some innovative and funny ads. The small screens they already have on the escalators have resulted in some cool stuff.
(And who knows, maybe the extra ad revenue will help them aleviate the morning 8-10am/4-6pm overcrowded death squash...)

EA sorry over Irish anthem gaffe in UEFA Euro 2008 {Joystiq}
Jul 4th 2008 10:40AM Lol that's pretty funny. Although I find it understandable. It does seem kind of unnatural for an area called 'Northern Ireland' to have a national anthem called "God Save the Queen [of England]". Just as it would seem unnatural for India to have Rule Britannia as its anthem.

You're trying to sell your car for more than I think it's worth. So I'm taking it.

Jul 4th 2008 5:23AM I think PC gamers can collectively say: "No loss there".
Judging by the UK charts, PC gamers would rather manage the teams with games like Champ Man. We'll leave the playing of the actual sports to consoles ;)
(Although to those who say sports games are better on console, let me just remind you that you can easily plug an xbox 360 controller into a pc without any hassle, and you can also plug a pc into a tv. This is what I have done for GRID, and it looks drop dead omfg gorgeous)

Jul 3rd 2008 6:21AM I hate being reminded of Diablo 3 all the time! Knowing that there's still well over a year to go before I can lay my hands on it drives me insane. No other RPG can really satisfy the itch, even though I'm a few hours into Titan Quest which I bought on steam.

Jul 3rd 2008 6:19AM The other thing people are complaining about are the healing orbs... People can't deal with not having to use hundreds of health potions all the time.
I think it's good to have a discourse between a developer and the fans of the game (e.g. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/28/arts/television/28eve.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&ref=arts) But I trust the minds at Blizzard enough that I want to see what they come up with. I want their capacity for originality and innovation to shine through in Diablo 3. And you don't need things to be dark for the game to feel 'gothic' and scary.
