Price still swaying decisions of HDTV buyers {Engadget HD}

Mar 27th 2008 12:53PM I've bought two TVs online from Vanns.com. The first time, the TV was $300 cheaper than my local Best Buy's sale price. I actually saved more because there was no tax on the $1,900 I paid online. Free shipping makes it even better. The second time, I saved $500 prior off the same TV at Best Buy's sale price. Ever since I've discovered Vanns, I will never buy a TV from a B&M again. Why throw money out the window? There are always better deals online but - word to the wise - do your research on the vendor first to ensure you are dealing w/ a reputable company. Read many reviews!

Comcast adds SNY HD for North Jersey customers {Engadget HD}

Mar 25th 2008 5:55PM "DirecTV customers who already had the channel are now encouraged to find other things to fuel their air of superiority, we recommend noting your remarkably luxurious hair, your kid's middle school honor student status, or an above average number of Facebook friends."

Ha Ha! I can still get NFL Sunday Ticket and you can't!!!

Sony Pictures schedules two BD-Live releases for April {Engadget HD}

Mar 20th 2008 12:05PM Seriously, though, what the hell could be extra (and actually be something people want to download)on Dewey Cox that couldn't fit on TWO BRDs???????

Hey, Office Depot: the format war is over {Engadget HD}

Mar 19th 2008 12:31PM That's why I just recently bought seven from Deep Discount DVD for between $9-$18 each (most on the lower end). To heck w/ any retailers who feel they can still milk this cow. No tax or shipping charges either! Vote w/ your wallet!

Best Buy offers HD DVD owners $10 million in gift cards, trade in, shoulder to cry on {Engadget HD}

Mar 19th 2008 9:24AM Sweet!!! That means I got mine for a total of $6. I paid $106 for mine (including tax), but had a $50 gift card sitting around, so out-of-pocket was $56. Add in this free $50 and BAM - a $6 HD-DVD player to watch my 17 movies on! Woot!! And now I can use this $50 towards a Blu-Ray player! Thanks Best Buy!!!!!!!

Ask Engadget HD: Is now the time to replace my 720p HDTV with a 1080p set? {Engadget HD}

Mar 5th 2008 12:28PM Actually, this is an awesome point. These other features more often have far greater impact on PQ than simply moving to 1080p!!

Ask Engadget HD: Is now the time to replace my 720p HDTV with a 1080p set? {Engadget HD}

Mar 5th 2008 12:25PM In my experience, it's not worth it under 46" anyways .... but that's just me. So if that's the size you have/want, then 720p should be all the TV you'll ever need. But if you go above 50" then it's probably worth the investment. As for replacing your 720 for a 1080, ask yourself this - are you already truly happy w/ your TV? Do you keep asking yourself, how could this get any better? If so, save your cash for a blu-ray player or a set of golf clubs or something. 1080p is nice, but it's not always necessary for every person.

Samsung's BD-P1500 Blu-ray player release pushed up to April - UPDATE {Engadget HD}

Mar 3rd 2008 10:14AM Matter of personal taste I guess. I can't wait to buy this player. Will look great matching up w/ my glossy black Samsung LCD. I think it looks rather sharp.

Not that YOU should - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Goldmund's Eidos 20 BD Blu-ray player costs $17k {Engadget HD}
