Burnout Paradise 'Cagney' update for Xbox 360 delayed until July 14 {Joystiq}
Jul 5th 2008 11:49PM You are aware that the last update for Burnout:Paradise for 360 was recalled after a few days and took a few more weeks to come out on 360.

It's ridiculous the amount of petty mudslinging on here from people in glass houses.
Software testing isn't an exact science. If you have 100 testers test it for 100 hours, you have 10,000 hours of testing. Then you release it to 1,000,000 customers and in a single hour, it's been used 100x as long as you had to test it. Often, you're gonna find some problems on wide release.

Jul 5th 2008 11:44PM You have a short memory.

2.40 isn't much of a clusterfuck, they pulled it pretty quickly, so to those who don't have it yet, it's just a bit of a delay, not some huge disaster. I am glad that it didn't affect me though.
Tension off-camera? Top Gear pay dustup rumored {Autoblog}
Jul 5th 2008 8:36PM I agree the studio adds a ton to the show. If you watched the older show (as well as Fifth Gear when it started or Motorweek now), the show was just a group of clips edited together. Some clips might be good, and others stunk, but as a whole, nothing really pulled it together, and that left it lacking.
The change to the current format made a big difference. Fifth Gear has mimicked it, first doing just bumpers in their writing offices and now filming sections in a roadside diner, including reviews and such out front. They honestly do better on actual review and comparative content (esp. considering Top Gear rarely shows cars ordinary people could even hope to drive), but the entertainment just isn't there.
Burnout Paradise 'Cagney' update for Xbox 360 delayed until July 14 {Joystiq}
Jul 5th 2008 8:21PM Seriously, the lack of retry isn't an issue until you're past your A license and about halfway to your Criterion license. That's over 20 hours into the game. Lack of retry is just not worth getting excited about.
I do miss crash mode though

Jul 5th 2008 8:19PM It's possible Cagney on PS3 depends on Firmware 2.40 (because of the custom soundtracks feature) and unless Sony gets 2.40 back out there soon, Cagney could be delayed on PS3 also.
Weak June has Toyota reviewing U.S. ops {Autoblog}
Jul 5th 2008 8:01PM By mirroring what people say about the domestics to be about Toyota, I'm pointing out (poorly it seems) that the problem isn't domestic vs. import. It isn't a story of the genius of Toyota triumphing over the stupidity of GM.
The issue is that people's expenses are rising fast and they're doing everything they can to control them. That means buying cheaper cars that use less gas, if they buy anything at all.
This is hurting every company that makes cars, and it's hurting those that make large cars that were always nonsensical for most people (like the Sequoia) most of all.

Jul 5th 2008 7:37PM The Sequoia was always a monstrosity, they never should have made a larger vehicle than the Highlander. It was the same foolishness as the domestics in play here.
They also redesigned the xB to be much larger and much less fuel efficient right at exactly the wrong time.

Jul 5th 2008 7:36PM Which is more responsible for the Sequoia do you figure, the big 3 or the UAW? How about for making a full-size truck?
Toyota has made some smart moves, like the Prius and carried some great cars along like the Corolla. But they've also made the same mistakes as the big 3. You cannot become the #1 automaker without making cars in every niche. And that included big-ass stupid vehicles which are now getting hammered in this world of expensive gas.
Toyota and their fans have to own up to their mistakes along with their successes.
Forbes lists top 10 family cars {Autoblog}
Jul 5th 2008 7:29PM Are you kidding me recommending a small car that only gets 24mpg combined (I looked, it's not 25)?
I think the minivans would have to come first. A lot more utility than a Rabbit, with decent (not great) mpg.
Honestly, I think a family vehicle is a sedan (given we don't get good wagons, except the Jetta), so probably an Accord is the winner given its good mpg and large, family-friendly size.

Jul 5th 2008 3:39PM Toyota is doomed. They need to stop relying on huge SUVs and eliminate redundant brands like Mercury and Pontiac. Otherwise the imports are just going to eat them alive.
