Netflix raising rates for Blu-ray subscribers by around 20 percent {Engadget HD}
Mar 30th 2009 3:07PM Please, do like me and drop bluray TONIGHT. Even if you add it later, we need to send these bean counters a strong message. Netflix tried raising rates before... and it did not work. I will send them a complaint letter and you should too. 30% more just for blu-ray supporters? Netflix should just be happy actual physical discs have a future for now.
Upscaling a normal DVD looks just about as good for most films anyway.

Dec 15th 2008 6:19PM Isn't easy to prove the word "monster" has been in use for daaaays?
Oh yeah Apple and Apple Records were in court and that apple word goes back a ways.
They both ripped off the fruit, then they act all protective like they invented it.
Yeah if I understood these laws I could do something silly like patent the wheel.

Aiptek keeps the crap flowing with AHD 300 "1080p" camcorder {Engadget}
Aug 11th 2008 8:54PM I LOVE my Aiptek 1080p. Sure, it isn't going to perform like the latest Sony's and Panasonic's, but, seriously, what do you want for $199 and an extremely tiny form factor? I can have it on me all the time and take decent HD footage- with my 16gb card, 5+ hours worth.
By the way, plenty of "HD" camcorders costing way more also use 1440 instead of 1920. More do than don't at this point....
