Nov 15th 2006 1:24PM Given that OS/X is booting after changing the chip i have to rethink something :: I thought that the security that tied OS/X to the mac was in the processor itself. Is it is the efi ? Or is it hidden elsewhere on the motherboard ?
Treo 750 passes FCC muster {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2006 1:06PM Had my 750 for about 3 weeks now; my 650 has now been demoted to second phone. Its my first foray into windows mobile; having been a stalwart palm / symbian user. I would say that windows mobile crashes 2 x as often as palm and about the same as a symbian 9x00 series do.
I love the smaller form factor; it feels much better in teh hand than teh 650. My only realy problem it is that the taper along the back of the device from the antenna to the keyboard. The taper means that if you hold it in two hands to thumb type the device bounces up and down in your hands as you use it. The straight thickness of the 650 prevented that.
Vodafone, TomTom partner to create real-time traffic data network {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 28th 2006 9:06AM I just left O2 in the UK because in their new terms they are storing and happy to share location data with other partners and government agencies.
When i called them to question it they couldnt answer questions on how this data was shared, who with and how it was secured. Given that banks can't keep their networks secure. I don't believe that a phone company will be able to the secure theirs. While banks are legally required to refund money and most hush it up to save face. If i get mugged, robbed because someone had access to the data and knew i wasnt home or i was walking down the street will the phone companies refund my insurance ?
Unless we are happy to be tracked wherever we go we need to tell these people that we arent interested in some features.
