US and European PS3 rumors set straight {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2007 9:51PM Not to defend sony, but why is it such a big deal if you can play old games? I know I didn't buy my Xbox 360 to play Halo, and I wouldn't buy a playstation 3 to play playstation 2 games. If it plays them, so much the better, but I think most people spend big money on next gen consoles to play next gen games, not the same old ones.

Feb 8th 2007 2:51AM Remote wipe, huh? Almost thought I lost my phone today, I'd love to have that feature. Self destruct would be so much more fun, though...

Sharp brings e-ink displays to the supermarket {Engadget}

Jan 19th 2007 1:36AM E-Ink is better than LCD because it doesn't require a constant stream of power, I thought. WIth E-ink, the image is kinda pulsed in when it changes. So, the benefit on those e-ink books is that you press the button, it electrically changes things from black to white, then power usage drops real low or almost completely off.

Don't attack if that's wrong, though...

Sony says PS3 manufacturing problems all shored up {Engadget}

Dec 12th 2006 6:04PM Didn't they promise 400,000 on the US launch (and deliver half as many)? These companies all lie about the numbers of consoles they make, because the employ hopeless optimists. Nintendo seems to be the only one that can make as many consoles as they promise, but it's obviously arguable that they don't use nearly as sophisticated of components. Personally, I have an Xbox 360 right now, and I honestly regret buying it. I'm not sure what convinced me it was a good idea to get the technologically inferior system of this matchup. I went with Xbox last round because it was better hardware.

AC Propulsion converts stock Scion xB into fully electric "eBox" car {Engadget}

Dec 11th 2006 10:14PM I hate to bring this point up, but where does the electricity come from in your plugs? Farts and rainbows? Fact is there's a lot of oil being burned to make that electricity too. I'm excited to see this car, though. It really is relativley cheap and actually has about the range and speed I'd expect from a gas powered car - the old two gripes about electic cars. Once full electric hits about half this price, I'd expect to see people start to jump onboard.

Then the smug crisis begins, right?

PS3 crime spree, part V: Suspected PS3 thief killed by deputy {Engadget}

Dec 5th 2006 11:36PM Every time I see an issue of police brutality, I've gotta say, "I bet he wouldn't have gotten shot if he didn't __________" The police aren't just pulling random people off the streets and killing them. The article isn't clear, did the police bust down the door on this guy who was just innocently answering the door (as your write up frames it, what if the police knocked in the typical way "OPEN UP, POLICE" and they hear them franticly hiding things, and that prompts the door-busting down?) and find him in the same room as the unloaded pistols? Say whatever you want, but I don't think the police should have to risk their lives to check to make sure guns that suspects have are loaded or not, because in a situation like that if they take the time to check and it's loaded, they may die!

If they knocked at the door, and there was shuffling and hesitation to answer, then the officers had a pretext to smash in the door. If they then smashed down the door, and found 3 pistols sitting on the bed and two suspects near, I can see why shots were fired, maybe the officers did feel threatened?
