GM designing car windshield that does the looking for us {Engadget}

Motorola / Cisco see Tuning Adapters certified {Engadget HD}

Jul 18th 2008 5:28PM If you order HD service through your cable company and use Cablecards for access, you may need one of these tuner adapters to properly tune in some HD stations. They should know whether you need one or not. Not too many cable companies have gone SDV, but it looks like it really helps them cram more HD stations in, so expect it to be almost mandatory in the future.

Thankfully it seems the cable companies that DO require SDV tuners, are just tossing in the equipment at no additional rental cost. I think if they did, the FCC would come down on them since they're mandated to offer Cablecard access to all their stations and SDV "broke" that and this is their way of keeping out of hot water and being fined to death.

2009 Mazda6 starting at $19,220 {Autoblog}

They look just like this. They have been for the past few years now.

A photographic ride through the new PlayStation Store {Engadget}

Jul 16th 2008 12:51PM Sorry, but no.

The Sony Store is quite better than the Microsoft Marketplace. I've owned a 360 since release and just recently got the PS3 with the MGS4 bundle.

The store on the PS3 loads very quick, everything is laid out very well via letters, genre, media type, etc. You seriously can't find ANYTHING on Microsoft's store, while the Sony store is very easy.

That picture with the blog post doesn't do it justice, so why not watch the video. You can easily see how nice the store is. Very straight forward and easy to use.

Final Fantasy XIII petition video is an instant comedy classic {Joystiq}

Jul 15th 2008 3:08PM Hahaha. This makes it ten times better.

He sometimes posted mp3s of him reading someones whiny complaint in the most nerdiest voice ever. It doesn't surprise me someone actually posted what he is acting in the video.

Hilarious.

Final Fantasy exclusivity clarified at Square Enix conference {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 15th 2008 9:19AM You can also bet if it sells really well on the 360, and it will, they will release every game they plan on offering for it as well. The 360 fanbase buys literally everything. I would guess FFXIII will sell more on the 360 than on the PS3 easily. It really makes sense for them to do this to make money. I'll still be buying the PS3 version because I think Home will play out with trophies better than whatever Microsoft has as its achievements in the next dashboard Mii upgrade.

Former Diablo II dev speaks out on Diablo III {Joystiq}

Jul 14th 2008 9:24AM I think the guy deserves more credit than "The FRIGGING hack" ..

Seriously, the guy wrote Diablo 2, one of the best roguelikes to grace our PCs. I mean, it will be very unlikely that Diablo 3 will top Diablo 2. Sure, it'll be a great game, but for it to actually top the game and be played for 8 years after its been released is going to be next to impossible.

I think the guy has more leverage than anyone that has spoken about the Diablo 3 design choices than anyone else out here. Calling him a "hack" was just poor.

Is World of Warcraft really World of Diablo? {WOW Insider}

Jul 13th 2008 12:50AM WoW was influenced the most by Everquest. Quite a few of the main developers were all in one of the top EQ guilds before development began. They saw a good game that could be better and decided on the Warcraft lore to build on.

Diablo was influenced by rogue, and other roguelikes. D1 and D2 are at their very cores, real time roguelikes. The random levels, the scores of varying items and states, the set items, the unique items, etc. All roguelike.

Diablo 3 will hopefully have zero in common with WoW, other than some of the same art style. For it to remain Diablo, it will still need to be a roguelike, which revolves around randomization for replayability that can go on for infinity. Which is exactly why people are still endlessly playing D1 and D2 to this very day, as well as Rogue, Moria, Angband, Nethack, and others.

Sorry, no trophies for 1942 or Bionic Commando [Update] {PS3 Fanboy}

Jul 10th 2008 9:02PM This is pretty much it. Developers at this point are just showing they flat out don't care about the PS3. Sony needs to start mandating trophy support as soon as they can, and not waiting until 2009 to make it mandatory.

Unless they're offering the game at a substantial discount for not having vital content, then I don't see any reason to bother with PS3 games without trophies.

And yes, it is vital at this point in time. No trophies? No money in your pocket.
