Apple settles out MacBook class action lawsuit {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Mar 27th 2008 11:44AM My wife just got a new (last rev) MacBook and I just got a new (also last rev) MacBook Pro. I didn't know anything about this controversy, but I noticed a dithering effect on the MacBook's screen that I don't see on my MacBook Pro. I actually checked to make sure it wasn't running in "thousands" of colors, just to be sure. I don't think I'm imagining the difference in the two screens.
Microsoft Office 2004 update 11.4.1 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Mar 16th 2008 6:16PM Funny, I've never had that happen (and I use Office daily in my job).
Microsoft Office 2004 update 11.4.1 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Mar 16th 2008 3:20PM JSW -- I'm not sure what you mean by keyboard lockups, but Office 2004 has an issue where you hit a key and then nothing will happen for quite a while unless you hit another key or move the mouse. I believe this actually occurs on both PowerPC and Intel computers, so I don't think it's related to Rosetta. I remember complaining about it when Office first came out.
And I question the claim that Excel is slower on a MBA than a 5-year-old PowerBook (which one are we talking about here, Peter?) For a long time, I used a 12" PowerBook G4 as my mobile and a 1.83Ghz Intel iMac as my main computer, and Office was clearly faster on the iMac. It's even faster on my new MacBook Pro (although it is admittedly no speed demon on any machine).
Apple and the imminent death of HD DVD {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Feb 18th 2008 10:51PM There's more to BR than movies. I know I would like to be able to burn 30+GB of data at a time. Besides, not everyone in the world can use iTunes for movie downloads, and not everyone in the US (myself included) wants to do so. I would hope they would recognize that.
Flickr Find: Jailbroken iPhone at Apple Store {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 1st 2007 12:51AM The iPhone in the picture has waiting SMS messages, according to the icon. I didn't think iPhones on display were activated to be able to send or receive messages or calls.
iPod touches "self heal" from read-write access after jailbreak {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 11th 2007 6:16PM I don't think I should have to use the iPhone-free feed -- I *want* iPhone news. I just don't need every play-by-play of the hacking efforts.
iPod touches "self heal" from read-write access after jailbreak {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 11th 2007 6:08PM I'm a big iPhone fan, but even I don't care about every little detail of iPhone hacking, especially because it'll all go back to zero when Apple releases another update, and then we'll have to suffer through posts about how 1.1.2 is being hacked, and so on ad nauseum.
As I write this, 9 of the 15 articles on the front page deal with some aspect of iPhone or iPod touch hacking. Not just the products themselves, but *hacking* them. Enough already.

Sep 16th 2007 6:29PM Something tells me that some people are not actually understanding what the "major flaw" in question is... Reading comprehension FTW!

Sep 10th 2007 4:41PM You're still limited to just playing one song at a time, though, aren't you? That's my main problem with Dot.Tunes (aside from some wonkiness that seems to occur when you have too big a music library). With the iPhone client, you seem limited to selecting one song, playing it, and then selecting another. Not very useful if you just want some background music. Am I missing something?
