Who do you call when your HDTV........isn't? {Engadget HD}
Mar 27th 2006 9:53AM This happened again last night, but this time while I was watching ABC. Maybe it was the immediate comparison but the SD feed looked horrible when they switched to it. Wonder why this happens?
Comcast DVR problems coming to light in Boston? {Engadget HD}
Mar 1st 2006 5:44PM I couldn't be specific about how hot mine runs, but it sits on a table by itself, and I went as far as to put it on a cookie cooling rack. It helped my tiling problems on live tv, but I still have problems with my recordings.
Comcast DVR problems coming to light in Boston? {Engadget HD}
Mar 1st 2006 9:45AM Man I have been complaining about this thing forever. I have the 6412... I've had 3 of them. Finally I learn to live with the problems it has. Just this morning I went to watch something off my DVR from last night and every few seconds the audio drops out and I get tiling on my screen.
I am in Kansas City... Will they ever fix this?
Major Nelson asks what's best for gaming? 720p, 1080i or 1080p {Engadget HD}
Feb 22nd 2006 9:50AM With games beeing action packed I think you can say that a progressive scan picture is more desireable in gaming... We know that progressive scan is better for that type of content.
That leaves us with 720P and 1080P. But you have to be more specific and get in to framerates like this article talks about. I think the more important thing for a gamer is framerates... all those pixels aren't that glorious if I'm not pulling enough fps. For a fast action game like halo 2 (or 3) I would say that 720P/60FPS would be more adventageous than 1080P/30FPS. Of course this is all speculation as I haven't seen and played 1080P.
Now when we are able to play 1080P/60FPS.... oh man, will that be great!
PS, when playing halo 2 on my 360 if there is too much action on the screen my framerate will drop noticeably. Anybody else have that?

Feb 20th 2006 3:05PM the 6412 has the HDMI output correct?
I have the 3412 (DVI) and let me tell ya... that thing sucks... blame it on motorola or comcast I don't know/care. It just sucks. I've gone through 3 of them before I just accepted the sub-par perfomance.
My plan was to upgrade to the 6412 hoping that the software in it would be a little better, but I guess not. I'm with you, waiting for the panasonic...

Group HDTV stations or integrate them {Engadget HD}
Jan 20th 2006 4:45PM This is the reason that when I surf the guide I always start on channel 202 which is my first hd channel. I go through those first, then to the premium channels, then start back at channel 2.
You do make a good point though... on Comcast all the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Cinemax) have their HD station in with the other stations, but then they show up AGAIN next to the rest of their stations so they are on the guide twice.
They could either put the HD channels on the guide twice, or move them in line with their SD partner but give us an HD filter that we can apply to the guide.
...somehow I don't see this happening soon though. :(
New DVR coming from Comcast and Panasonic {Engadget HD}
Jan 18th 2006 4:28PM This would be sweet, and I would love to swap out my DVR for the new one, but comcast is SO slow to get anything done. I was supposed to have OnDemand in my area last summer...
