Found Footage: Apple TV booted from external USB HD {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

i have got an itunes server capable NAS and i would like to know if anybody manages to get it running with that library to stream from.

Pogue on the Apple TV {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Mar 22nd 2007 9:00AM it's only a matter of time before single click conversion scripts and proggies come out. aside from that, some download locations will be adjusted for appletv and offer material allready in the right format exactly like they did when ipods started to play movies.
i have been using a mac mini for some time to whatch all my media, and if the appletv can do the same but easier I think it's a winner. while we do not have movies and tv shows in the itms. i will be converting all my material for itunes soon.

Engadget HD giveaways: NeoDigits Helios X3000 {Engadget HD}

Oct 16th 2006 4:43AM My current preferred method of streaming at the moment is using my infrant readynas X6 for all the contents, and in the living room I have a Mac mini using mediacentral to play the lots. in the bedroom i use my macbook in the same manner.

preferred however would be a full featured nas/recorder which records from DVB by keyword. and adds media to my itunes library by category (tvshows / movies / music video's)
seems not possibel yet though)

Ad critic: Sony's racially charged PSP ad [update 1] {Joystiq}

Jul 6th 2006 1:54AM As an ethnic minority in the netherlands, I do not have a problem with this whatsoever.
I can imagine the uptight americans having a problem with everything, so this one as well.
I watched the ad's in amsterdam, and i did not see any riots in fromt of them, nor were people trying to damage it or tear it down.
I think the dutch people are somewhat sensible enough to see through such an ad.

NVIDA's PureVideo with H.264 hardware acceleration {Engadget HD}

Apple Intel Mac mini hands on {Engadget}

Feb 28th 2006 4:02PM I agree with #26,
If they made the ipod hifi not so rounded off, it would look nicer in a ht environment.
make the current mac mini in a 17" enclosure too. it would add the possibillity for passive cooling, an auxiliary display for itunes / frontrow status and a true large harddrive.

now i still have to build it all from pc components. (macosx86 please continue your forum, i love to run frontrow on my intel based DIY system.)

PVR Wire interviews Aaron DeYonker, Media Center Edition project manager {PVR Wire}

Dec 12th 2005 6:46AM I would like to know what microsoft is doing for the european countries whare DVB-S, C and T are the main objectieve for digital broadcasting. will it be incorparating irdeto and conax coded smart cards so we will finally be able to enjoy digital tv with MCE too, or will we be using media portal after all? '( a bit strange to say the least that an open source solution can do way more than a microsoft media center product which can handle analog broadcasts only)

Sub-grand WMCE 1: the base system {Engadget HD}

Dec 9th 2005 8:05AM It's absolutely possible to build a better HD HTPC from scratch than you guys are doing for under a grand.. start from scratch. I did it. use an AMD Athlon 3200+ or higher ($145,- and $80,-)and one of those nvidia nforce 430 / 6150 based boards and you will spare yourself a videocard. put that into memory and storage and up go the specs of your little powerhouse. I have build mine using Asus A8N vm-CSM athlon 64 3200+ 1024 MB kingston samsung 250Gb s-ata 300 (silent!!) Firedtv DVB-T hdtv tuner crystalfontz LCD in front of cabinet silverstone passive PSU (silent again!!) Plextor slot in DVD burner and I converted an old Cyberhome DVD player case to match my stereo. all this at a mere 870,- and that's in europe guys, i'm sure this can be done in the us too as all goods need to be imported here.
