Mac Pro refresh brings high-end graphics to the Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Mar 3rd 2009 2:05PM Uhh, I hate to burst your bubble ladies, but the 4870 with only 512MB is not the latest and greatest from ATI. Now if latest and greatest means old and busted then you are probably right, but for video cards in a Mac Pro latest and greatest means what the PC users got new a year ago. ATI is going to release an upgrade to the 4000 series cards sometime in the first quarter. So, we can continue to play the catch up game with PC users.
At least this card will be faster then that POS 8800GT I have in my Mac Pro.
Windows 7 SKUs announced: your worst nightmare has come to pass {Engadget}
Feb 3rd 2009 1:14PM Very nice. While you windows 7 users will have to wip out your crib sheet to figure out what features you will want in your new OS, I will happily install Snow Leopard without having to do a comparison amongst different OS versions. And guess what, whatever choice you decide to make you will spend a lot more money then I will for my OS upgrade. Oh and I won't have to worry about do i want to pay for the full version or the upgrade version, every copy of OS-X sold is a full version and I can install it on as many machines as I want.
You would have thought with all the mileage that Apple got out of the different flavors of Vista that Microsoft would have approached this differently with Windows 7. Unfortunately this decision to have different SKUs makes perfect sense when you consider what customers Microsoft wants to keep happy and it isn't the individual user.
Aspyr launches GameAgent online store {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 26th 2008 9:29AM I have to agree with all the positive comments about Steam. If your download service doesn't offer what Valve does at a minimum then you are going to fail. I was kind of psyched about this service, because I was hoping for something similar to Steam. Then I read it and I was like, wtf and extra 5 bucks to download again. What kind of crap is that.
Do these people understand the fact that their customers do not live in a freaking bubble? I know what is available on the PC. I know what passes for good a good digital delivery system.
Oh well, Aspyr must be taking their digital delivery advice from the RIAA.
Analysts catch on to Apple's games play {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 12th 2008 1:39PM Does anyone honestly think that Apple is now going to take gaming seriously? I mean please, put down the crack pipe for half a nanosecond and get with the program.
If apple was serious about gaming I should be able to put an ATI 4870 in my MacPro and be able to use it with OS-X, instead of my boot camp partition. When that happens then we can start sucking each other's dicks about Apple embracing gaming.
True Blood: Strange Love (series premiere) {TV Squad}
Sep 8th 2008 3:37PM Did everyone watch the same boring and poorly acted show that I watched last night?
I would give anything to see a television show or movie based in the South that doesn't cart out every single southern stereotype.
Wowui.incgamers.com invaded by malware? {WoW}
Apr 14th 2008 6:31PM Or you can run out and buy a Mac and not care about all these keyloggers targetting Windows machines.
Now for the longest time I used wowui to update my addons, then I switched to the wowace updater, and currently I use wowmatrix. I found the all in one programs a huge benefit, especially when I have a lot of addons installed.
Patch 2.3 and you: PvP edition {WoW}
Sep 27th 2007 12:23AM This sucks with the weapons, because arena was a way for people that didn't have access to the high end raiding gear the opportunity to gear out, albeit really really slowly.
Now what will happen is that all those folks who just want the weapons will realize that the weapons are not available, so they won't bother with arena. Will be nice to see how happy people like Johnny will be when they have to wait a half hour for a match.
I don't know what the big deal is with allowing the low ranked teams access to these weapons.
Around Azeroth: A mysterious crpyt... {WoW}
Feb 4th 2007 11:24AM Conan thought that he had found the tomb of Cromm. I made the Conan connection the first time I found this, which was quite by accident. You have to stumble on this place, which makes me wonder how many area in Azeroth and the Outlands are like this tomb.
Possible Expansion Rogue Talent Trees {WoW}
Aug 25th 2006 4:35PM Anyone that thinks these talents are really real, is smoking some serious bud.
Learn2play: a guide to class roles {WoW}
May 2nd 2006 4:41PM For those that claim to out DPS a rogue, are you outfitted in your tier 2 epics and the rogue you are comparing yourself to might have a couple of the shawdowforge peices that are found for sale in the AH.
Keep in mind that these guides paint classes with broad strokes. You can always find an exception to these guides.
