Kingdom of the Crystal Skull coming to Blu-ray in October {Engadget HD}

Aug 15th 2008 4:22PM Worst. Movie. Ever. And I don't shy away in saying that. In my universe, this film doesn't even exist. Crap from beginning to end.

Hands-on with DirecTV's new HD channels {Engadget HD}

Oct 5th 2007 12:32PM Here's my e-mail to TBS-HD (one of the newest additions to HD, but definitely the WORST offender of stretch-o-vision!) The only thing on that channel that's actually HD is the baseball, what are they going to do when the playoffs are over?? Anyway, here's my e-mail:

Subject: TBS-HD stretch-o-vision

To whom it may concern,

I was very happy to wake up on October 2nd to 4 new HD channels in my area, one of which was TBS HD. I couldn't wait to watch my favorite shows (Family Guy, The Office, Seinfeld, etc.) in HD quality. I am no stranger to HDTV and I know most old shows have not been converted to HD yet, so I was expecting to see these shows in full screen but in much better quality through your HD feed. Instead, like TNT has been doing for way too long, you insist on stretching your content to fit the screen. This makes these shows exteremly difficult to watch, because everything is way too WIIIIIIIDE. Not to mention, once the baseball playoffs are over, I'm wondering how much actual HD coverage your channel will have. And The Office (which has been filmed in HD since its inception) isn't even presented in HD on TBS HD!! As an avid TBS viewer, I would love for you guys to cater to your HD fans (there are plenty out here in TV land, and our numbers are growing larger by the second!) and present shows in their OAR (original aspect ratio) until the studios decide to re-master their shows in HD. Thank you very much.

TBS HD carriage deals, have to be some kind of record {Engadget HD}

Oct 2nd 2007 9:14AM TBS HD was turned on here in Central Florida on Bright House Networks this morning in addition to History Channel HD, Food Network HD and HGTV HD. The only thing I HATE is how they insist on STREEEEETCHING everything out. Why not just keep everything in its original aspect ratio while still transmitting in HD? I would much prefer that over watching Seinfeld or Saved by the Bell in stretch-o-vision. Someone needs to go to Atlanta and straighten TNT and TBS out!

Bright House Networks to add 8 new HD channels {Engadget HD}

Sep 28th 2007 3:10PM YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I've been begging for new HD what seems to be FOREVER now and Bright House finally comes through! It took them long enough with ESPN2HD. I just wish National Geographic HD was one of the channels being added. They show a lot of good crap on that station!

Cox adds Hearst-Argyle locals in six markets {Engadget HD}

Sep 28th 2007 10:08AM WESH is the NBC affiliate in Orlando, not CBS. And what exactly does this mean? I didn't know we had COX here in Orlando. Bright House Networks pretty much has a monopoly on the cable market. Its either that, or switch to satellite for most of the Central Florida area...

Is hell freezing over: Time Warner Cable to add ESPN2HD? {Engadget HD}

Apr 2nd 2007 9:41AM YES! Finally! Been waiting for ESPN2HD since I bought my HDTV 15 months ago! We got it here in Orlando too through BrightHouse Networks. All I can say is its about time! Now all we need is National Geographic HD and we're set.

A&E HD is back; now with the Sopranos {Engadget HD}

Nov 21st 2006 10:37PM Yeah, Brighthouse Networks here in Orlando finally decided to add a new HD channel to the lineup and of course its A&E HD. The ONLY thing they show in HD is pretty much CSI: Miami and that show just sucks. I'd much rather have ESPN2HD or National Geographic HD or even MHD. I will probably end up watch The Sopranos in re-runs though.

Engadget HD giveaways: win a Samsung HL-S5679W DLP with LED backlight {Engadget HD}

Nov 21st 2006 10:31PM Already own an XBox 360 so playing on this thing would be a DREAM come true.

Universal HD says more new hotness, less Hasselhoff {Engadget HD}

Oct 6th 2006 1:39PM Its sick how much content Universal actually has that could be showcased on this network. I am one of the few who seems to have the channel and the only times I've ever really watched it were for Backdraft and Casino. I'm definitely watching Back to the Future in HD this Sunday night.

Think about thses shows and movies in HD (not including what is currently shown on NBC in HD):
Miami Vice, Kojak, Columbo, Law & Order (the original), Magnum PI, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Jaws, The Deer Hunter, Animal House, The Blues Brothers, JURASSIC PARK, Gladiator...the list goes on. GET IT DONE NBC UNIVERSAL! GET IT DONE!

Is there another competing technology war going on? {Engadget HD}

Aug 21st 2006 10:57PM How are you forgetting about probably the best HD picture? DLP. I have a 46" Toshiba DLP and it looks gorgeous. Very bright, brilliant colors, and superb contrast. Not to mention its the cheapest out of all of them. It takes up more space, but not really that much, and the ONLY disadvantage is you can't hang it up. But I prefer my TV on eye level anyway so I don't even think I would hang a plasma or LCD. Just my opinion.
