DirecTV gearing up for 100 HD channels with new site and Emmy Party {Engadget HD}
Sep 15th 2007 1:05AM At least DirecTv is not just making up HD channels and claiming to have over 70 HD channels (Dish Network anyone?). Almost all the channels announced are HD version of current SD channels, like CNN-HD, SciFi-HD, MTV-HD, USA-HD, Starz-HD etc.
All you COMCAST subscribers, stay out of grown people's conversations about HD. I had COMCAST and every few months I was hit with new price hikes.
Poll: Is DirecTV's HR20 ready for primetime? {Engadget HD}
Jul 30th 2007 2:21PM I purchased my very own HR20 HD DVR just over 2 weeks ago and from the get go I was impressed.
For one it runs much cooler than the HD receiver I had. After I finished hooking it up it downloaded an update and it's been smooth sailing since.
If there is a concern, it's that I cannot programme the HD DVR receiver to 'view a show'. If i'm already home and watching tv I would love to have it switch channels automatically. I can programme it to record an entire series of first run episodes though.
I'm aware of the problems at the Launch but since I've gotten mine in July, it's been fantastic.
