PQI debuts 256GB 2.5-inch SSD drive {Engadget}

May 31st 2007 10:18AM The last time I bought a notebook HD at CompUSA, the sales guy and I both felt the need to open the box before I walked out of the store to make sure that there was actually something in the box because the thing felt empty it was so light. I don't think there will be much of a weight savings over a conventional 2.5 inch drive. The DVD drive and the battery should be the first things addressed if you're trying to save weight on a laptop.

Gateway's E-265M, E-475M laptops released and reviewed {Engadget}

May 9th 2007 8:52PM That looks a lot like my HP 8430 business laptop...

First official public RED footage {Engadget HD}

Oct 4th 2006 11:30AM Well, you seem to be missing the fact that the price for this camera and lens is around 25k, where the same sony and panasonic cameras retail for around 150k without a lens. This camera also does 4:4:4 at 4k. That's Lucas Films quality.

IFA 2006: ATI announces Xilleon 260 for 1080p HDTVs {Engadget HD}

Sep 7th 2006 11:13AM They had better allow in the menu for disabling the auto-contrast feature. I have one of the Sceptre 1080p 37" sets and that has been one of the most annoying "features" of the set. More than half of the 3000 posts on the avs forum regarding this set are about the annoyance of theis feature that can't be turned off.

More on HD in Africa for the World Cup {Engadget HD}

Jul 15th 2006 10:22AM I would guess that this means it can take a 4k scanned film inage. Currently when they scan film and they want the highest quality, they scan it at 4k. If they can take this scan and transmit it to theaters which have these or other 4k projectors, then we will have the highest quality image possible, all of the advantages of film, with none of it's weaknesses...
I saw X-men3 with digital projection (Christie Digital), and it looked really good. I'm looking forward to the time when all of the projectors are replaced with digital projectors. I used to run projectors in a 6-plex, so I know many of the disadvantages film has, like splices and tearing and brain wraps (shudder).....

Christie DLP projector to be used to display Disney's "Cars" {Engadget HD}

May 25th 2006 7:59AM I was asked to run the sound for this show yesterday, but I hav to work another show for Carquest Friday night. We were just discussing how many lumens the projectors would have to be to fill a 50' screen and actually be bright enought to see. We were thinking 50k or so. I'm going to look up the specs of these christies to see what they are.

Blu-Ray capacity: where's the beef? {Engadget HD}

Dec 5th 2005 12:23PM For both of these formats, I'm hoping to see a television series released on one disc. The regular SD version of course. If a show is shot in HD, then I'm sure it will be on multiple discs, but older series before HD can surely be put on on disc.
