Oct 7th 2008 11:17AM People are nervous, but unemployment numbers are still fairly good right now. People are spending, but they are more cautious about what they buy. Recessions are a normal part of economic ebb and flow. The booms and busts of the dot com and housing bubbles have caused a big mess, but many saw it coming. If you didn't, then you were blind. This is why Congress has egg all over their face.
We all want to kick everyone out of Congress and clean house right now. They were and still are responsible for oversight. One cannot blame Wall Street with a straight face because Wall Street's job is to make money. It is government's job to govern, provide oversight, enforce and make law. This is why you see congress blaming Wall Street, because they want to deflect the issue away from themselves. Government was the most major player in all of this mess.

Aug 7th 2008 2:37PM Quit trying to scare people. There were too many banks trying to make big profits off of inflated home values during the housing boom and they got burned. Normally banking regulations are supposed to prevent bank 'bankruptcy,' but this didn't happen, and banks, like any other business, can go under. It is the Feds job to clean up the mess and make sure it doesn't snowball and that the fewest amount of people get hurt from this. You are yelling fire in a crowded theater, and that is not good no matter what.

Aug 5th 2008 1:23PM Low interest rates is partly what is causing the weak dollar and high oil and gold prices. It affects the supply of money. Lowering them again would most likely be counterproductive. Of course, why does a government need to tax when all it has to do is borrow and inflate?

Aug 2nd 2008 3:29PM I meant smaller phone. iPhone and diamond are about same thickness. The iphone is a bit large otherwise though.

Aug 2nd 2008 3:27PM My feeling is that Apple is keeping this phone from being offered by ATT. ATT might carry the bulky Raphael/Touch Pro just because it is not a direct competitor with the iPhone, but some of us want a slimmer touch phone than iPhone, etc.
