8-core Mac Pro hands-on, Apple NAB booth tour {Engadget}
Apr 16th 2007 9:49PM Ok, I'm totally going to do my best to make a shopping cart full of what I suspect is in this photo:

I must know how much all of that would cost! How much $ is behind that plate of glass? Interesting...
Apple rumors are fun when they're about HDTV {Engadget HD}
Feb 23rd 2006 4:15PM I surely hope so... Remember Macworld SF '05 when Steve Jobs declared 2005 to be the "Year of HD"? Not much really came from that, so maybe he really meant, "In a year from now, we're gonna release an awesome product that has to do with HD". Haha... It would be cool if it was a media center type Mac (maybe even based on VIIV), but I wouldn't mind if it was that new video iPod (see here: http://static.flickr.com/26/103357149_ebe5a6a8c7.jpg )

Asus PW191 19-inch LCD with zero bright-dot guarantee {Engadget}
Feb 1st 2006 5:41PM Can't "bright" mean, "stuck on"? A pixel that is stuck on is more of a nuisance than a "dead pixel" which is stuck off. I would think that their policy would stipulate that, though I don't know if this has been discussed before ;-P
TUAW Tip: Drag and drop with Exposé {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Feb 1st 2006 1:45PM Wow, does everyone set the All Windows hot corner to the bottom left? I have mine set to the bottom left as well, along with the desktop in the bottom right, and Dashboard in the top-left (and at work I have the top-right set to the password protected screen saver to lock my computer when I leave my desk).
I swear, all of my friends and a few people here at work that I showed the hot corners/Expose trick have All Windows set to the bottom left.
Crazy!! haha

Quote #2:
"You know, if you just hold the shift button down until your desktop comes up, and then restart normally, it will accomplish the same thing.
Safe mode will check your hard drive and remove said preference file for you, among other things."

Safe boot does not do this for you. Here is the Apple document describing just what it does:

As for this troubleshooting tip, this is a great one! I wish Apple Tech Training would get more detailed with command line troubleshooting tips. Maybe next time I need to certify, they will have added more of this stuff...
Common Mistakes Made by New Mac Users {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jan 25th 2006 4:52PM 1. Double Clicking icons in the Dock!!!
2. Saving EVERYTHING to the Desktop and/or the root of the Hard Drive.
I'm an IT Admin that's all Macs except 1 Windoze computer, and a lot of the people here are first time Macs users, and almost everyone was opening apps from disk images before I had the chance to manage everyones computer (we're a startup and everyone basically just took their computer and ran with it before I could get my hands on them and set them up correctly). Funny thing is, almost all of those instances were for Firefox!

Jan 12th 2006 12:52AM Agreed with Jason Ross... the dead space to the right is pretty weird, and the left and right margins of the entire page are not "auto", it looks as if it's absolutely positioned. The empty space on the right side I can deal with for a v1.0 product, but come on, at least auto-margin the sides of the container div.
I encourage all you guys with complaints to send feedback to Apple. I know I will. At least the page almost validates with only a single error.
Overall, a good v1.0 effort by Apple for easy, standards based web publishing. Can't wait for the comparison reports of iWeb against the third-party products like Realmac software's Rapidweaver ( http://www.realmacsoftware.com/ ) and Karelia's Sandvox ( http://www.karelia.com/ ). Both of which validate as XHTML Strict and the code looks pretty good. (They both do offer direct source code editing, so their developers could have gone in the and cleaned up the straight generated code.)
