Xbox 360 fall update adds 1080p output, HD DVD add-on hits Japan for $170 US {Engadget HD}

Sep 20th 2006 11:22AM Ben,
Don't you guys have a bet going? Looks like you might be losing this one...

I have the 42" Westy, its supports 1080p over HDMI, DVI, and VGA/D-Sub, but not component :(

Warner develops HD DVD/Blu-ray/DVD hybrid disc {Engadget HD}

Sep 19th 2006 4:19PM "What would the capacity be? I assume it would be limited to 30GB like HD/DVD."

The capacity would probably be equal to a single layer disc from each format. 15 GB HD-DVD and 25GB Blu-ray. And probably 4.7GB on the DVD side.

Sep 16th 2006 4:09PM I would go pick up a Series 3 today to at least try it out, but I'm in a old Comcast A-B area so a cable card would only pick up some of the channels. Time Warner promises to upgrade the area now that they have taken over so it has encouraged me to wait. At least I can be more rational now and wait to see what MCE options there will be next year... Or to see if Verizon ever extends their FIOS service into Dallas.

My Xbox 360 does have a slight hum, but doesn't seem so loud, although I probably don't notice it since the hard drive on my Motorola 6208 HD-DVR is incredibly loud even when its turned off.

By the way, I love Super Wal-Mart and Sams Club and always have. And I plan to buy a Series 3 Tivo or Vista MCE box (unless I can get FIOS of course). I also have a 42" 1080p LCD and 2 other TVs (one of which is also HD). I wouldn't say I'm cheap, but I am a smart shopper. Even my high dollar "toys" were bought when I found a good deal somewhere. I'm also a frequent upgrader (depending upon what I find good deals on) and I sell the stuff I'm replacing on eBay (often for close to or more than what I paid for it).

Why you shouldn't order your Series3 from TiVo.com {Engadget HD}

Sep 16th 2006 3:59PM I had a feeling that would happen. If I was going to buy it now, I'd have picked it up from a retail outlet anyway.

The Series 3 has landed; UPDATE available on TiVo.com {Engadget HD}

Sep 12th 2006 11:14AM Too bad Time Warner (formerly Comcast) still has not upgraded my area to a single line so I can use a cable card and get all the channels :( I'm tempted to try it out to see how it does with the QAM channels in the meantime.

Aug 24th 2006 12:50PM Of course the Matrix. I wouldn't even consider either format until I could get the first Matrix (out of the 3, thats the only one I want and the only one I have on DVD).
