VidaBox's RoomClientHD streams Blu-ray, other 1080p content to your HDTV {Engadget HD}

Oct 3rd 2008 7:49AM First of it is not a true "extender" as it doesn't support cablecard streaming from the main pc. To me this thing will be way overpriced and with the lack of cablecard support won't be worth the money or anywhere close.

Did Microsoft intentionally break commercial skipping in Media Center? {Engadget HD}

Aug 8th 2008 2:51PM True but I think showanalyzer or commercial skip will reconize the new format eventually. Unless the format is protected in the way cable card recordings are which I highly doubt. To me just as long as I can get the commercials out wether but commercial "skipping" or just deleting the commercial in a whole automatically I am good.

Now the question for me and you Ben. I have heard to get the new un copyprotected cable card shows it won't require the tv pack but just the new upcoming firmware from ATI. If that is the case I will not add tv pack for a while. If not then I can't skip my cable card recordings anyhow so no loss.

Aug 8th 2008 2:43PM So then there is still hope for dvrms_toolbox removing the commercials as well as lifeware. Since these are done outside of the media center interface automatically. Just will take programs like Showanalyzer or commercial skip to get time to reconize and play the format.

Aug 8th 2008 2:36PM I think you are jumping the gun on this one. It is simply a new format that no one reconizes not even their own movie editor. We are talking about a version that isn't really publicly even announced yet (until cedia). I think support will come nothing support DVR-MS out of the gate it took time to get programs to work with it.

Samsung reveals $200 MediaLive Media Center Extender {Engadget HD}

Jul 23rd 2008 6:26PM That price is too high!!! You can get a linksys on sale for $150 or lower.

Hollywood can already control what you record on your DVR {Engadget HD}

Jul 22nd 2008 12:45PM I think it will happen just not within the next two years. Analog component is an outdated technology already. It sucks but that is the facts. They could be petitioning to turn the component off (never happen) but they are just wanting to downgrade it. I see it happening over the next 3 to 5 years.

CableLabs loosens up on PC CableCARD tuner restrictions {Engadget HD}

Jul 22nd 2008 7:49AM Oh come on there are six of us :) Actually I think 90% of the cable card problems are with the cable companies not pairing correctly and not wanting to support cablecards in general.

I as Ben probably does think this is great news and can't wait to be able to use commercial skip on my CC recordings.
