Sharp's limited edition XS1 LCD HDTV comes to Canada {Engadget HD}

Nov 12th 2008 7:36PM Well, I posted one of the first pics of the 65" XS on AVS Forum in the US. My local store has them for sale now in Michigan. Excellent picture from a first take point of view. Waaayy better than THEIR other SharpLCDs bar none!

Samsung to have LED backlit LCDs by September {Engadget HD}

Aug 7th 2006 9:52PM Well, after actually having hands on time (at my favorite A/V store Paulson's in Farmington Hills, MI) with the 40" LED Qualia flat panel, I definately say this is THE flat panel to get (if you can afford it, $9,000 on sale?!?! from $14,000). Ultra vivid colors and smoothness. NO SDE AT ALL!!

A plethora of new flat panels including new Panny plasmas now available {Engadget HD}

Mar 29th 2006 6:44PM Ahhh yes!!! The newest TV I saw today (March 29) was Sharp's mammoth 65" 1080P LCD at my local AV store in Michigan (Paulson's). Contrast and color was great, and so was the price = $19,000!!! Ouch.

They also sell Qualia products (not the Qualia 004 though). Sony "Trilluminous" 1080P LCD TV is pure bliss!

Sony VPL-VW100 SXRD projector {Engadget HD}

Feb 6th 2006 10:01PM My local AV store (Paulson's in Farmington Hills, MI) had this projector since mid January. Along with a Runco DLP projector in the same room, this thing blew it away!! Picture is ridiculous with a 480P DVD, but high def is something to behold. Definately a bargain from its big brother (Qualia 004) and equal if not slightly better picture! Check it out in person first...

CES: Samsung's DLP with out a lamp {Engadget HD}

Jan 7th 2006 4:27PM Now the chip makers of LCOS and LCD might actually have something to worry about. That color wheel idea to me was a bad but workable idea. LED is a way better idea. Either 3-chip DLP (yeah right, too expensive) or now LED backlight for me. Might give it a second look now...

Cable downconverting illegal under new bill {Engadget HD}

Jan 6th 2006 6:15PM Hey, I work for my local cable company and I personally can't wait to get rid of analog. Most of our customers can't wait neither, for they don't want to switch to satelite for all digital all cleaner SD channels. The compression part is true, especially if your HDTV has a HD Tuner built-in and compare off-air to cable or even satelite.

Pioneer's PRO-FHD1 50-inch 1080p plasma {Engadget}

Jan 5th 2006 8:19PM Well...if you make the pixels smaller and cram in another million pixels, than it is a nice resoluiton step up without the screen door effect. Example: all HD plasmas except a few ALIS plasmas (1024x1024) display 1366 x 768. the bigger the plasma, the more SDE usually (65 inch Plasma upclose anyone?), even at 50 inches. Make the pixels smaller and cram in another 1+ million pixels and viola!!

CES: Microsoft announces external HD-DVD drive for Xbox 360 {Engadget HD}

Jan 5th 2006 7:53AM From watching the keynote last night with them demoing Toshiba's HD DVD drive, I say it is a great move for everyone personally. If the system is $300 - $400 now, cost is still an issue if it were built-in. Game system first, media hub second is cool with me. Options from a business point are excellent. For customers who don't care about HD DVD, then don't buy it! I will though...

What kind of deals are you seeing/expecting this holiday season? {Engadget HD}

Nov 23rd 2005 10:16PM ABC Warehouse has a 30 inch Sony widescreen (30hs520 I think) for $599!!!. That's $200 bucks off the regular price! I'd get the Sony over the Philips, but that's just me....
