Aug 17th 2009 1:25AM You can make the argument that driving a slow car fast is more fun than driving a fast car slow, but why not drive a fast car.... fast. Driving around town in 3rd and 4th in my z is torque bliss.

Xbox Live gets 1080p Zune video store, Netflix browsing, Twitter and Facebook integration {Engadget HD}

Jun 1st 2009 6:45PM I don't understand why everyone runs around like a chicken with their head cutoff screaming that streamed 1080p content will always look horrible. I've seen some 6GB mkv Blu-ray rips that look amazing.

Engadget Podcast 146 - 05.15.2009 {Engadget}

May 16th 2009 1:16AM Love the podcast. I only wish they were longer.

Anyway, I have two things I would like to mention.

1. I think a key point about the ps3 "home media center" conversation was missed. That being the complete failure to support netflix. If the ps3 is to be declared a home media center because of its network connectivity and robust processing power, then it must support some kind of applications that take advantage. Sony's own network services are a joke. It takes hours to download a 100MB trailer.

2. Besides the obvious arguments for both sides of the zune subscription commercial, a more important discussion would be why have zune commercial now? Is there a new zune on the market? No. Was there a picture of a zune shown during the commercial? No. What crawled up Microsoft's butt that made them want to create a commercial. In fact, the commercial says "consider switching from iTunes to a subscription service like ZunePass" , not iPod to zune.

Switched On: Windows 7, Non-Starter Edition {Engadget}

Apr 30th 2009 6:26PM The magical 3 application limit is not there to "keep the OS running fast and smooth." It is there to create a magical feature divider. And while I understand you can run any Windows 7 flavor you feel like on a netbook, don't expect to see them on sale with anything but starter edition. This leads to millions of people using starter edition out of ignorance and a plethora of complaints about the 3 application limit. Microsoft seems to forget that while some extra cash may be made by the starter version they will quickly lose it with bad PR.

MPAA backs yet another anti-piracy technology: DreamStream {Engadget HD}

Jul 4th 2008 6:47PM The MPAA needs to realize that there will always be a way around their encryption. It's a simple rule: If you can watch it, you can pirate it. Unless they want to start selling movies people can't watch, then they are SOL.
