Nov 5th 2008 12:47PM Our household subscribes to both. Mainly being that my fiance has TERRIBLE taste in movies so I refuse to let her onto my Netflix account. They both have their ups and downs. We are grandfathered in at Blockbuster for unlimited in-store exchanges on our 3 at a time plan which is really nice for those times when we don't like any of the movies we have and need instant gratification. That is the only upside of Blockbuster though.
The ability to stream on so many of my devices now with Netflix is fantastic. Granted I am not an avid user of that service, once the HD streaming is on my Xbox I'm sure I will use it more. However, the main reason I am a big proponent of Netflix over the "other guy" is that I feel the selection of Blu-Ray movies available at Netflix is much greater. Sometimes I do get long lead times which annoys me, but overall I am very happy with their service. I do not have the good fortune of Brooks of same day service (would be nice considering the post office where my Netflix place is is across the street) but I do get very fast turnaround anyway.
If it were not for the unlimited in-store exchanges at Blockbuster we most likely would have cancelled that service and simply upped our Netflix account for more DVDs.

Aug 27th 2008 12:45PM I have been a TiVo user for quite some time, owning various models from the Series 1, Series 2, DirecTiVo and now 2 TiVoHD's. In between I have had a couple of cable DVRs as well as DirecTV's HR20/21 (needed it for the expanded HD content).
I was wary about switching with what I had heard about the CableCards. But in all honesty, I am so happy with the TiVoHD's and have not had any issues with the CableCards. I do not miss VOD at all as I never really used it (I record enough stuff and I only have so much free time). TiVo's interface is just unbeatable and it is extremely easy to use and get familiar with. The additional features, such as the ease of expanding its capacity and the ability to transfer shows to / from my computer and to and from multiple DVRs really seals the deal for me. I HATED not being able to transfer shows between rooms when I was using the D*TV and cable boxes.
The only big downside at the moment (which is being worked on) is if your cable company has implemented SDV (Switched Digital Video) which cannot be grabbed by your TiVo. There is a tuning adapter coming out sometime in the next 6 months which will resolve this issue. But in the meantime, there are some cable areas where all HD is broadcast in SDV, thus leaving your TiVoHD fairly useless.

Jul 2nd 2008 4:31PM I just hope that none of these are SDV channels. I need my HD channels on my TiVo, not that crap STB that Cablevision touts as "same thing as a TiVo"
