Jul 22nd 2009 2:44AM With the new firmware it can do 24fps playback (http://bit.ly/1842At), and out of the box does DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD passthrough (http://bit.ly/hY9HP).
It does more than a PCH at $100 less, and is planned to get firmware updates twice a month. It's not without it's share of problems (they just launched and are working out some issues), but it's very promising.
I think it was well worth the $169 shipped.

Jul 18th 2009 3:23PM Xtreamer (http://www.xtreamer.net). Just released on July 1 and is very promising. I own one myself and love it. It has its share of bugs, but they're putting out new firmware and very responsive to feedback.
It's $168 shipped to the US (99 Euros + 20 Euros shipping), and does more than the WD TV and can do a little more than the PCH, but is $100 cheaper.

No, but the chipset supports 7.1 multichannel LPCM over HDMI with software like PowerDVD 8.
