DirecTV confirms HD DVR / receiver glitch, apologizes profusely {Engadget HD}
Oct 8th 2008 12:36PM Awwww, poor DirecTV customers. At least you dont have time warner. Not only do I have their crappy new dvr software, but I got one of their "new" dvr's as well, so the software is even more glitchy. Half the time the box doesn't respond to my remote control, which can be a real pain when fast-forwarding, and not being able to stop it, and the other night, instead of recording fox from 8-10, it recorded PBS! It still says it recorded Simpsons-American Dad on Fox, but nope, each half hour "show" was 30 mins of PBS.
Thank you time warner.
Homebrew solution: CycloDS Evolution {DS Fanboy}
Jul 13th 2008 12:11AM above, it says "Unfortunately, at the time of this guide's posting, this Enhanced Mode is only available for commercial games and not for homebrew software."
I don't follow. I thought CycloDS is for playing homebrew (stuff that you need to download) - wouldnt commercial games come on their own cartridge, meaning the game was in slot 1 and not the CycloDS? I guess I don't understand what "commercial games" are.
Any ideas?
Binghamton, NY residents get two more HD stations via Time Warner Cable {Engadget HD}
Jul 10th 2008 3:08AM argh! still no USA HD or SciFi HD on time warner!!! why do they hate NBC stations....and me???
actually, they're coming up on contract renewals with a bunch of NBC stations, so I'm assuming thats why they havent picked up any new ones, and hoping they'll reach an agreement to continue broadcasting NBC stations, and pick up the HD channels as well.

Jul 1st 2008 12:55AM So I've noticed that engadget seems particularly interested in the RDU/RTP area. This is great for me, since i live up the road from the airport, but I've gotta ask why? is engadget based somewhere in this area? affiliates here? Why all the triangle love?
