Infrared sensors hit 16 megapixels, can now spy on an entire hemisphere {Engadget}

Aug 13th 2009 3:16PM 16 MPixel sensors are out for visible sensors, but not for IR ones (especially ones operating in the mid to long wave spectra). Pixels for IR focal plane array need to be much larger than the pixel number equivalent visible FPA, resulting in very low yield at fabrication.

Aug 12th 2008 4:41PM Actually, the 2HD/2SD limitation is somewhat restrictive. Just this past weekend, I wanted to watch the redsox game on TBSHD, and two olympics events on UniversalHD and NBCHD. I would have been nice if I was able to record two of the events and watch one live.

Jun 20th 2008 1:01PM This is cool for a slow moving vehicles like the packbot. For a fast vehicle (like your car or aerial vehicles), having remote user-in-the-loop control is not practical because of inherent long latencies would lead to unstable feedback control loops in most cases.

Iron Man
Indiana Jones
The Dark Knight
Narnia
(Incredible Hulk, X-Files, etc)

The first three could really drive holiday adoption of Blu-ray this year.
