iPhone 3G: everything you ever wanted to know (but were afraid to ask) {Engadget}
Jun 12th 2008 3:27PM I just called two area AT&T stores asking them if any word has been given how much current AT&T customers will have to pay for the iPhone 3G if they are not upgrade eligible. They said if you have an iPhone right now you are automatically eligible for $199. The disturbing part (and the part I find very hard to belive) is that they both told me they were told that if you are under contract already, not due for an upgrade, and do not currently have an iPhone, you CANNOT upgrade to the iPhone 3G at all. I said to the second guy "so you're telling me that if I want a 3G iPhone I need to essentially break my current contract, pay the ETF, and then start a new contract and buy for $199?" He simply said "yup". That HAS TO BE complete bull. It's just scary that two different stores told me the same thing.

Jun 12th 2008 2:25PM I'm sure I'm not the only person here who sold their iPhone a few months ago for max profit in anticipation of the new iPhone 3G. I really would like to know how much AT&T is going to charge me for a new iPhone 3G. If it meant I'd get the $199 price tag then I'd have no problem signing up for a new 2 year contract. It would kind of irk me a bit if they expect me to pay something like $399 or more AND extend my contact for 2 more years. I hear that AT&T hasn't made their decision yet on this, but how can that be? It's less than a month until this thing lands, and they haven't made up their minds yet on how much I'm going to have to pay?
Unsubsidized iPhone 3G priced at €499/€569 in Europe {Engadget}
Jun 12th 2008 7:15AM It's funny, there hasn't seem to been much mention about people like me who are already under an AT&T contract, have a phone other than the current iPhone, but are not eligible for an equipment upgrade through AT&T. I'll gladly pay $199 for the iPhone 3G if it means extending my contract. Have I missed something here? Has the price I'll pay been determined yet?
Aiptek's HDV21X brings 1080p HD video to the sub-$200 Wal-Mart market {Engadget}
Jun 11th 2008 11:38AM These things seem to have pretty decent picture quality for the price, but they always fail miserably when it comes to sound quality. It is aweful on all of their other camera. I can't speak for this model since I haven't used it, but I won't touch one of these until they do something about the sound recording quality.
Lifetime Networks grabs popcorn, gets cozy with Cox {Engadget HD}
May 15th 2008 11:57AM In Connecticut, cable companies are required to file with the DPUC (Department of Public Utility Control) prior to any programming or rate changes. Cox's filing yesterday contained the information about the additions I mentioned above.

AT&T says "iPhone Black" means nothing, gunman acted alone {Engadget}
May 12th 2008 7:20PM Am I the only person who noticed that Under the AT&T manufacturer on the "select your phone" page, it shows "Tilt Black"? There is no black Tilt, just as there currently is no black iPhone. I hoped that this mean a 3G iPhone coming soon, but when I see this it makes me think that AT&T probably did just mess up. My money says the 3G iPhone will not be called iPhone Black.
