Mar 29th 2009 10:26PM Oh, how I long for Breaking Bad and Mad Men in HD...

Get your act together, DirecTV.

Ericsson demos 500Mbps vectorized VDSL2, HD streams get way excited {Engadget HD}

Mar 17th 2009 3:26PM Is that 6 copper lines they're bonding? If so, no need to get excited. Pair/line bonding for 6 lines won't ever happen. It's tough enough to get 1 good pair to your house and AT&T is soon going to try 2 in some areas, but outside of that, 6 lines won't ever happen as most of the pairs going down the poles are already taken anyway and it would probably end up costing about the same if not more to condition all those copper lines for each house instead of just running fiber.

I guess its possible for that to happen in other areas, but certainly not in any ATT areas i've worked in. Maybe the Euros will have something though?

HDTV Listings for March 11, 2009 {Engadget HD}

Mar 12th 2009 10:21AM i'm sure if you got on the phone with a directv sales rep and explained that to them, they would be able to give you a credit for at least a few months.

anyway, i DO think it would be cheaper. i've just got 1 set/dvr for me, but i also get a lot of the premium stuff, I pay about 90-120 a month.

DirecTV replaces DISH as AT&T's BFF, Advanced TV partner {Engadget HD}

Sep 26th 2008 11:50PM FINALLY.

i've had directv for a year now, been installing uverse for 6 months.

now i won't have to have that crappy u-verse system installed in order to get a discount on my tv. woohoo!

AT&T splitting 2 HD / 2 SD and 1 HD / 3 SD into separate service levels? {Engadget HD}

Jul 22nd 2008 11:23PM I install uverse for a living and i just have to laugh at this.

I got the memo a while back about them extending the distance. all i have to say to that is:

LOL YEA RIGHT.

we can't even get sync @ 2600 feet most of the time, forget 3000. and they're trying to push to 3400? yea right. that must be the best copper in the world.

TWC posts rollout schedule for HD channels in Southern California {Engadget HD}

Jul 18th 2008 3:57PM i just noticed that these are probably all lumped in (along with westwood) in west LA.

but still, there are plenty of heavily populated cities missing from this list.

TWC posts rollout schedule for HD channels in Southern California {Engadget HD}

Jul 18th 2008 1:46PM what about downey? the south bay? westwood?

those are the only family/friend places i visit often enough that havn't upgraded to directv or some other source of HD goodness.

luckily for me, there's no cable lines to run a drop to my house, so I didn't get sucked back in to time warner before i got to try out satellite. what a revelation that was.
