VUDU readying Blu-ray quality rentals {Engadget HD}
Sep 10th 2008 1:54PM It might be Blu-ray quality video (i doubt it) but is it Blu-ray quality audio? I think it is Dolby Digital. so it isnt.
For $18.00 a month I can watch all the Blu-ray and standard DVD discs I want from Netflix. I guess i'm old but the 2 day turn around doesnt bother me. I can make up my mind a couple of days in advance. way cheaper than the per movie price from VUDU.
DirecTV to boast 130 HD channels on August 14th, 1080p movies later this year {Engadget HD}
Jul 29th 2008 11:25AM Slam me all you want but my reference is Blu-ray. there are exceptions but most OTA and DirecTV HD is over compressed, creating a soft picture. the larger the screen the more this becomes an issue.

Jul 28th 2008 1:21PM I have DirecTV and the so called HD is painful to watch. It is so over compressed, it's a joke. So now we will have 30 more over compressed channels.
just because it is 720p, 1080i or 1080p doesn't mean it's HD.

Apple iTunes to compete "day-and-date" with DVD releases -- Wal-Mart weeps (now official) {Engadget HD}
May 1st 2008 1:37PM I'm tired of this. Why would you spend $15.00 for a digital file that will only play in your house or on your iPod?
Blu-ray is the absolute best in picture and audio quality. I feel like Apple and the media are doing everything in their power to undermine this. And fortunately I don’t think it is working.

Blu-ray player sales sink as 2008 begins... except for Sony's PlayStation 3 {Engadget HD}
May 1st 2008 11:10AM Prices won’t come down until players are available. Why lower the price if you can’t keep them in stock. Do you see boxes of unsold Blu-ray players?
Toshiba lost money on every player they sold. Blu-ray isn’t going to follow that business model.
On a side note, I watched Nancy Drew last night in standard DVD. It looked like crap compared to Blu-ray. So the DVD is ok crowd get some glasses.
