Canon's new XL H1S and XL H1A prosumer HD camcorders {Engadget HD}

Apr 26th 2008 8:40PM Lets hope HDV isn't here to stay! While it's fine for the present time, as technology allows us to progress, hopefully it will be assigned to the dustbin. True, tapes do currently make for cheap storage, but as broadcaster's workflows enter an entirely TAPELESS era, and high capacity storage gets cheaper and cheaper, nobody can honestly say that the pinnacle of visual evolution is the HDV recorded tape!

Bring on the solid state mediums, they are the way forward, no doubt!
