Microsoft Security Essentials leaves beta, available for download 9/29/2009 {Download Squad}

Sep 28th 2009 9:59PM I've been using the beta since day 1. I was very unhappy with AVG and MSE has been nothing but easy to use and to the point. It simply does it's job well and nothing more. That's all any antivirus/spyware program should do.

Combined with Malwarebytes it makes for a very nice protection package!

iTunes 9 Focus: iTunes Media organization {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 10th 2009 9:22PM No "Thanks for the tip Jeff!"?

iTunes 9: no social networking, plenty of new features, breaks Palm Pre sync {Download Squad}

Sep 9th 2009 5:57PM Actually they added Facebook and Twitter integration to the Music Store.

There are now "Share on Facebook" and "Share on Twitter" links in the song drop down boxes.

So the rumors weren't completely untrue.

40+ awesome free Windows apps you can download in 2 seconds {Download Squad}

Jun 7th 2009 11:40PM Just like the "40+ great open source apps & games to trick out your new Windows install" post, I really like this post.

I like the big list of program posts because they organize the programs rather than having to dig through posts to find a program in the search.

Keep it up,

40+ great open source apps & games to trick out your new Windows install {Download Squad}

May 26th 2009 1:30AM Stop whining about Digsby - it isn't open source so therefore is not included in this list!

Anyways, I have been a loyal download squad reader for quite a while now and this is probably one of the best and most beneficial posts I have seen to date. Thank you Mr. Mathews!

Engadget HD giveaway: win a 5x1 HDMI switch and long HDMI cables! {Engadget HD}

As for fixing the economy? New president, less government bail outs. But I don't want to start a comment political battle!

Here's to hoping I win for once ;)

Is Google the next Pirate Bay? In a word, no. {Download Squad}

Apr 21st 2009 12:25AM Well of course, I wasn't trying to imply that with the "In a word, yes" part.

I was only trying to point out that the fact that it can be limited (beyond filetype: search) to locating specific files in all major trackers and some private/smaller too, shows how Google is a more powerful torrent search than TPB.

But that signifies how shutting piratebay, mininova, or any of them down will never make it incredibly hard to find torrents. Unless Google blocks torrent searching then it will always be easy to find torrents.

Obviously since TPB and the others are trackers the amount of torrents available will decrease as more are shut down but the massive Google index will always lead to available torrents.

I'm sure you already realize this, but I am trying to be more clear about what I was saying. I am agreeing with your post, but I wanted to post that link to show the ease of use for the average downloader. Shutting down trackers isn't going to make it rediculously harder for people to find torrents.

Wow I am looking back on that - sorry for typing a novel ;)

Just my 2 cents.

Voice dial on us: TUAW Vocalia giveaway {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 26th 2009 4:03PM I want to call Steve Jobs and ask why there is no copy/paste, no native turn-by-turn gps, and no voice dialing built into the iPhone's OS! Then I'd tell him to get better soon.

Otherwise just call Steve Wozniak and tell him I am rooting for him in Dancing with the Stars! ;)
