PlayOn media server brings Hulu / YouTube to consoles, Netflix coming soon? {Engadget HD}
Aug 19th 2008 5:46PM I agree Hulu has the stuff, but Netflix does seem to have a growing number of online delivery options, too. I always wondered it there'd be a way to watch them on something other than a PC screen.
Oh, and although I don't know about Barackrolls, I'll keep watching Airwolf. When I'm too lazy to pull out the DVD, I stream it from here: http://series.airwolf.tv/episodes
Hulu Media Player gives Hulu an Apple Front Row feel {TV Squad}
Apr 17th 2008 12:16AM I checked out the site and it looks like Paul's revising it now that Hulu has gone live. Can't wait to see the result. In the meantime, I'm watching Airwolf videos over at http://series.airwolf.tv/episodes. Not a bad substitute, eh?
Hulu going international -- eventually {TV Squad}
Apr 17th 2008 12:08AM It sure would solve a lot of headaches to open up Hulu overseas. I see Hulu links all the time on forums, followed inevitably by comments from foreign surfers who can't view the content. Then usually a post about how to download something to get around the block (I guess Hulu allows playback anyway if the IP address is blocked). So the longer Hulu delays, the more workarounds will probably be invented.
It would seem to complement the new sharing feature, too. After all, why put a Hulu clip on your MySpace page if your foreign friends can't view it?
Hulu rolls out new sharing features {TV Squad}
Apr 17th 2008 12:01AM I like hulu, and I don't mind seeing, say, Airwolf on a site like http://www.airwolf.tv (see http://series.airwolf.tv/episodes for a good example of off-hulu implementation), so it's not a bad idea to let me place my favorite episode within my myspace page. Hopefully hulu will add even more content (where's CSI?) to reflect an even more eclectic mix of tastes to complement the broad appeal of the sharing feature.
TV Obits: Minghella, Clarke, Dixon, Williams, Ebbins, Bloom, Smith {TV Squad}
Apr 16th 2008 11:40PM Ivan Dixon had such a great career and towed the line for many a TV show, mainly behind the scenes. What a loss. His work spanned a generation so both Baby Boomers and Gen X benefitted from his experience.
You can see his resume here:

Akamai knows (hopes) 75% of broadcasters are taking HD online {Engadget HD}
Apr 16th 2008 11:11PM It's hard to believe that 1080p would be feasible as a stream without a hardware codec. Otherwise, the processor would be tied up, and it's when I need that processing power for other programs that I'm watching content online. It would be a great step if the data format was conducive to shifting processing tasks to the video card through a standard. Perhaps this will occur as the technology matures. Otherwise, after getting past the "gee whiz" factor of HD such as that from http://www.hulu.com or http://series.airwolf.tv/episodes (so you can get your Airwolf fix, guys) plain old 525i should sufffice for casual viewing, particularly when sharing screen space with other programs.
